Whitby Wood Networking Bike Ride 6 May 2026
London to Brighton off road route 128km

Meet up for the ride was at Roehampton Gate café in Richmond Park. After introductions, there were a couple of early stories about Mountain Rescues people had been in, after that we put our minds into the slightly less risky task at hand.
We were away at about 9am with the destination of Brighton Station (for most) many hours away. In dappled sunshine through the woods, commons and golf clubs of South West London and Surrey, we winded our way down to the lunch halfway point of Peaslake in the Surrey Hills.
Two puncture stops allowed some welcome rest before we made it to the village shop. After a KLH UK rider swap (Aaron left and Nic started) the group headed up yet another decent hill towards the Downs Link Way. Once on the Link Way the smooth path allowed decent speed, with the kms ticking over. The route called for the challenging ‘hard’ way up the South Downs Way path to Devils D**e then down to Brighton. Heart rates were elevated for all on this part, but the finish was within reach the group was soon on the train back home at 5.30 (apart from Chris, who cycled home to Kew from Devils D**e!!). As the main event of our 20th Anniversary, most of our Team headed to Austria for 3 days last week. Hosted by KLH Massivholz, we visited the Johann Offner Group (our parent company) HQ, including the origin of the Group - the forge where it all began, then the sawmill at Wolfsburg where all our raw timber is sourced. Both KLH® - CLT production locations at Katsch and Wiesenau were also toured. The Team saw the progress made in production automation over 20 + years and had a great time meeting up with the KLH team!

Today marks the 20th anniversary of KLH trading in the UK! 🍾🎉🥂

We have many KLH® - CLT buildings across multiple sectors to be very proud of.

In addition to those wonderful projects, we have also achieved so much and enjoyed being together as a Team, with many miles cycled and walked and large amounts of money raised for various charities. Our voices have been heard at many timber industry conferences in the UK and beyond.

We have learnt much over these 20 years, and the business goes from strength to strength as we grow our knowledge & expertise.

We have seen may great people come and go over the years, so many of whom stay in touch and pop in for the occasional beer or a quick cycle to Paris. We have seen the transformation from colleague to friend many times over.

During those 20 years KLH has gained the backing of the Johann Offner Group, providing the security to grow and expand our production with of a state-of-the-art facility in Wiesenau to complement the existing production facility in Teufenbach-Katsch.

Back in 2005 KLH had one subsidiary and twelve sales partners. In 2025 we have two subsidiaries and 22 sales partners. Our total number of projects delivered is now in excess of 45,000!!

I’d like to say a massive thank you to our fantastic Team here in the UK for all their hard work, commitment, and companionship along with a huge thank you to our “parent” for all their support and co-operation and all the members of the KLH Family. It’s such a pleasure to be a part of something so special.

KLH UK’s Nic Clark and Dora Szabolcs proudly handed over a cheque for £5,600 to St Catherine's Hospice, Crawley.
This donation marks the culmination of our summer fundraising efforts, including our cycle ride to Paris and the London Bridges walk.

While this amount represents only a small portion of the funds needed for St Catherine’s to continue providing outstanding care and dignity to cancer patients in West Sussex, we are honoured to contribute. We had the privilege of visiting the hospice and witnessing first-hand the incredible work being done there. The compassion shown by all the staff is truly humbling.

We thoroughly enjoyed raising these funds and gained valuable team-building experience along the way. We would highly recommend supporting St Catherine’s to any business looking to make a meaningful social impact.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and supported our efforts.
Your generosity made this possible, and together we’ve helped make a real difference.

Today most members of our team (and a few acquaintances!) are taking on the London Bridges Challenge Walk from Hampton Court to Tower Bridge which is 52km in total. It's a real challenge that will take at least 12 hours.
