Women doing retrofit in real life. Here’s what we’re talking about this week.
Finding a plasterer. Understanding insulation. Making sense of costs. Deciding what needs doing now and what can wait.
Inside Her Own Space, women are working through these decisions on their own homes, sharing what they’re learning and helping each other keep moving.
Without sharing anyone’s personal project details, here’s a taste of this week’s conversations:
🧱 What’s actually going on our walls? From understanding “Italian plaster” to asking questions about repointing and water resistant coatings.
💷 What should retrofit cost where we live? Members are following up on our cost planning session, looking for regional figures to help make sense of their budgets.
💡 Where should the sockets, switches and lighting go? Our latest practical session helped members plan their electrical layouts, with a template and recording to work through at home.
🌿 How do we prepare for a heat pump? Understanding the house and heating system we have, alongside the improvements we’re planning.
And there are the conversations about how it all feels. The frustration of trying to find the right tradesperson, the relief when work finally moves forward and the pleasure of sharing progress with women who understand what it took.
