CIBSE was pleased to welcome ASHRAE's delegation to its London HQ for the latest CIBSE–ASHRAE Liaison Meeting recently.

The delegation included Sarah E. Maston, 2026–27 ASHRAE President, Jeff Littleton, ASHRAE Executive Vice President and Chief Staff Officer and Blake Ellis, ASHRAE 2026–28 Vice President.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, explore shared priorities and discuss opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the two organisations.

Celebrating excellence at the CIBSE President’s Awards Dinner 2026!

CIBSE has recognised 29 members at this year’s President’s Awards Dinner in London, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the Institution and the wider building services engineering profession.

📢 New guidance for domestic heat pump design and installation out now!

To mark the start of National Heat Pump Week 2026, CIBSE and the Heat Pump Association UK (HPA UK) have launched the new Domestic Heat Pump Design and Installation Guide.

More than two years in the making, the guide brings together expertise from across the industry to provide an independent, practical resource supporting the effective design and installation of domestic air-to-water heat pump systems.

Developed jointly by the CIBSE Domestic Building Services Panel (DBSP) and HPA UK, it provides heat pump-specific guidance across the full lifecycle of a system, from survey and design through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Whether you’re an experienced designer or heating engineer, a plumber moving into low-carbon heating, a trainee, installer, consultant or specifier, the guide provides a reliable reference to support good practice and consistent design methodologies.

📢 Important announcement on the update of material carbon factors used by CIBSE TM65.

CIBSE is now working on remapping material factors used within CIBSE TM65 to the new IC+ Database, developed by Circular Ecology. CIBSE TM65 methodologies, and calculation tools will be updated by the 13th of November 2026 to represent the new factors made available within the IC+ Database. Please note that CIBSE will no longer publish embodied carbon figures within its CIBSE TM65 publications.

Alongside this update, CIBSE TM65 will also introduce an updated version numbering system, allowing users to distinguish whether an update relates to the methodology or supporting factors, or is simply a patch. Users of CIBSE TM65 will be able to identify up to date CIBSE TM65 calculations by referring to the calculation version number.

In the coming weeks, CIBSE will release a briefing document outlining the latest material updates in CIBSE TM65. CIBSE will also publish a separate briefing document explaining the new version numbering system and how calculations can be identified and traced to specific versions.

It was a pleasure to welcome a delegation from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), including HKIE President Ir Prof Frank Chan, to CIBSE’s headquarters in London recently.

The visit included a President’s Talk Seminar, bringing together senior representatives from across the engineering profession to share their organisations’ priorities, experiences and plans, and to explore how greater collaboration can help move the industry forward.
