Here's some nostalgia for you ✨
People have been reminiscing about 2016 recently, so we wanted to do the same.
We've had a look at how bathroom trends of that year compare to 2026 predicted trends, and they are night and day.
1️⃣
2016 trend: Grey interiors
2026 trend: Woods and earthy tones
Grey interiors were all the rage in 2016 as they created modern and clean spaces that were inoffensive. In fact, people were moving away from warmer colours like beige and cream. But 2026 is looking to love more wood tones throughout bathrooms with wood effect porcelain tiles, wood vanity units, and wood accessories. This is one we can stand behind.
2️⃣
2016 trend: Minimalist & clean
2026 trend: Maximalist & patterns
Less is more was the phrase of 2016, and many bathrooms were incorporating this. Less clutter, bright white tiles, and clean lines. 2026 is the complete opposite and people are predicted to embrace colours, patterned tiles, and bolder designs.
3️⃣
2016 trend: Rose gold brassware
2026 trend: Brushed nickel brassware
Who remembers when rose gold was everywhere? It's warm pink undertone was popular in all spaces from kitchens to bathrooms. The predicted trend for 2026 though is brushed nickel, an understated finish that can be paired with so many different colours and tiles, making it versatile and luxurious.
Which trend is your favourite? Are there any others from 2016 that you loved, or ones for 2026 you're excited to see? We'd love to hear them 👇
