We had a great time exhibiting at the STEM Careers Showcase yesterday at Cranfield University!

It was fantastic connecting with talented MSc and PhD students, graduates, and researchers across disciplines, including AI & robotics, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, defence and engineering.

Our team was on campus to share more about career opportunities at Firstco and the work we deliver in control and communication systems for airports, rail stations, data centres, battery storage facilities, and other mission-critical infrastructure.

A big thank you to the Careers Employer Engagement Team at Cranfield for hosting such a well-organised event.

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re proud to continue investing in both the physical and mental well-being of our team.

Throughout the year, we offer our team the chance to take part in first aid training, building essential skills, confidence, and awareness to support one another in the workplace.

We also recognise the importance of mental health support, which is why we have a trained Mental Health First Aider within our team (Leeanne Clifford) and offer mental health first aid training opportunities for staff.

A supportive team is a stronger team, and we’re committed to ensuring our people feel safe, valued, and supported.

It was great to be at Solar & Storage Live this week!

With the scale of projects and conversations across the event, one thing is clear: as battery storage grows, so does the complexity of monitoring, controlling, and integrating these assets into wider infrastructure.

At Firstco, our focus is exactly on that layer: designing and integrating mission-critical control and communication systems that enable infrastructure to operate safely and reliably through a single interface.

A few takeaways that really resonated with what we do:

• The shift towards centralised control and real-time visibility across increasingly complex energy assets

• The need to integrate storage into wider operational environments, from data centres to critical infrastructure and not treat it as a standalone system

• A growing emphasis on reliability, cyber security, and system assurance as storage becomes mission-critical

It was great to connect with so many technology partners working at the forefront of this space, and we look forward to the next one!

We hosted another great Company Meeting last Tuesday, bringing the team together once again to share, learn, and connect!

We kicked things off with a board update, followed by insights into key projects and partnerships, as well as an introduction to our chosen charity for the year, Spitalfields City Farm.

We’re looking forward to supporting them through upcoming fundraising initiatives and a dedicated team volunteering day later this year.

The afternoon continued with some fascinating technical sessions and, to round off the day, we took on the Egg Drop Challenge, where teams put their creativity (and engineering skills!) to the test by designing indestructible egg carriers.

Safe to say, there were some impressive builds…and a few casualties along the way!

The day was a great mix of knowledge sharing, teamwork and, of course, a chance to catch up over a drinks social afterwards.

Looking forward to the next one in September!

A few of our team had the pleasure of spending this week in Madrid at ROKLive EMEA 2026, hosted by Rockwell Automation, Inc.!

From hands-on labs to live demonstrations, it was great to get up close with some of the latest Rockwell technology and see how the next generation of industrial automation is evolving.

Our team spent time exploring new hardware, testing systems in the labs, and listening to talks from industry experts and engineers about how these technologies are being applied in real-world environments.

Seeing the equipment in action, rather than just reading about it, always brings a new level of understanding (and excitement!).

A big thanks to Rockwell Automation for putting on such a great event!
