🏆 A trophy as unique as the Brick Awards themselves!

Each year, our Brick Awards winners take home something truly special - a beautifully crafted trophy, uniquely designed for the awards by the incredibly talented Maria Gasparian Studio.

Made using bricks from our valued member Ketley Brick, each trophy is a celebration of the material at the heart of the awards, bringing together creative design, traditional craftsmanship and the enduring beauty of clay brick.

And for our 50th anniversary, these trophies are even more special, marking five decades of celebrating excellence in brick architecture and craftsmanship. ✨

A huge thank you to Maria for her creativity and dedication in bringing these stunning designs to life, and to Ketley Brick for their contribution to these unique awards.

But that's not all! Maria has also created an exclusive piece of brick artwork to celebrate our milestone anniversary, which will be unveiled on the night. We can't wait for you to see it!

Green and white glazed clay brick. Curved façades. Off-site innovation.

Eden Campus in Kingston upon Thames shows how modern brick systems can expand architectural possibilities.

Designed by Darling Associates the development combines WE ARE Ibstock - at the heart of building white glazed units with complementary green glazed brick slips, creating a distinctive palette within a historically sensitive setting.

Its unitised Ash & Lacy MechSlip system brings brick slips together with aluminium and glazing systems. Factory installation supports consistent alignment, jointing and finish, while off-site fabrication helps streamline work on site.

The result demonstrates clay brick’s versatility in both material expression and construction.

The Worldwide category recognises innovative and inspirational projects that showcase the creativity, versatility and architectural potential of clay brick, bringing together exceptional examples of brickwork from both the UK and further afield.

From striking contemporary designs to innovative uses of materials and construction techniques, this year's shortlist demonstrates how brick continues to push boundaries and inspire remarkable architecture around the world.

270 precast panels. More than 270,000 clay bricks. A façade installed in 13 weeks.

Island, Manchester, demonstrates what clay brick and off-site construction can achieve together.

Designed by Cartwright Pickard, the building uses Furness Brick & Tile Co Ltd's Natural Orange handmade blend within panels manufactured by Techrete . Windows and aluminium panels were fitted off-site, allowing complete façade units to arrive ready for installation.

Just six module types create the building’s varied appearance, including distinctive sawtooth detailing.

A striking example of clay brick’s character brought to life through carefully coordinated modern construction.

This week, we take a look at Lô Dzè, a distinctive hotel and Roman-inspired bathing destination in Martigny, Switzerland, where British handmade clay brick makes its mark.

Just 30 metres from the town’s main square, the development brings together a 50-room boutique hotel, restaurants and a public courtyard. Below ground, a former 19th-century winery has been transformed into Les Bains Publics, an extensive Roman-inspired bathing experience.

Designed by Drip & Drip, the project uses York Handmade Brick Co Ltd's ’s EBOR Hunsingore Maxima brick slips to connect contemporary architecture with Martigny’s Roman heritage.

Within this tightly controlled historic conservation area, the bricks’ colour, texture and elongated proportions give the substantial street-facing façades a strong identity. York Handmade’s clay pavers continue the material connection into the courtyard, defining spaces for circulation and al fresco dining.

For the owner, the choice delivered “a winning combination of colour, form, texture and cost”.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply speaking up - and sometimes taking the time to listen can make all the difference.

This World Mental Health Day, the theme 'Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change' is a reminder of just how important it is to create space for honest conversations and make sure people know where they can turn when they need support.

That’s one of the reasons we’re proud to have Band of Builders as the charity partner for the 50th anniversary Brick Awards.

Band of Builders supports people working across the construction sector and their families, providing practical, financial and wellbeing support when they need it most.

Through its 24/7 support service, counselling and wellbeing resources, the charity is helping make sure those conversations can lead to real support.

Following our Brick Works event in Manchester earlier this year, we’re excited to be returning this November for another evening of talks, discussion and shared insight.

✨ Highlights from Brick Works Belfast! 🧱

Last week, Brick Works returned to Belfast for an evening of great architecture, fresh ideas and plenty of conversation at the fantastic Titanic Distillers.

Across the evening, our speakers explored some brilliant examples of design and innovation, from Weavers’ Hall at Dublin Road and Ross Street Mews, to the latest thinking around lintel design and façade detailing.

A big thank you to our speakers from IG Masonry Support , RPP Architects, Keystone Lintels and Studiorogers Architects for bringing their knowledge, projects and perspectives to the stage.

It was also fantastic to see so many people from across the local architecture and construction community joining us. Thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, shared ideas and made the evening what it was.

And finally, thank you to IG Masonry Support for supporting Brick Works Belfast and helping us bring another evening of CPD and industry connection to the city.
