Last week we joined Dowhigh at the A59 Kenyons Junction to see the new CYLOPS junction in action, the first of its kind in Sefton!

A CYCLOPS (Cycle Optimised Protected Signals) junction protects cyclists from traffic and allows safe crossing for walking and cycling, as well as improving overall road safety through speed-reduction and improved visibility of road markings.

Pupils from local Northway Primary School joined Leader of Sefton Council Cllr Marion Atkinson, Cabinet Member for Skills, Regeneration and Economy Cllr Paulette Lappin, local ward members, and LCRCA's Walking and Cycling Commissioner Simon O'Brien.

🚧 The A59 from Dodds Lane to Robbin's Island will be closed overnight for two weeks from the evening of Monday 29th September.

1️⃣ First week will see Southbound closed from Robbin's Island to Dodds Lane
2️⃣ The second week will see Northbound closed from Dodds Lane to Robbin's Island

🕖It will be closed from 7pm to 3am for resurfacing works.

🔥 Huge congratulations to our sponsored fighter Darren Till on his incredible win in the Misfits Boxing competition against ex-UFC champion Luke Rockhold!

Darren delivered a thrilling performance, landing heavy shots in the first two rounds before knocking Rockhold out in the third. 👊

🚧 Evening Works in Ormskirk – Supporting Lancashire County Council 🚧

Last week, as part of our ongoing partnership with Lancashire County Council, Dowhigh carried out essential works at the County Road / Holborn Hill roundabout in Ormskirk.

While smaller in scale than our recent project in Hutton, this is a key traffic route—so all works were completed during the evening to minimise disruption to road users.

Across three nights, our team successfully completed ironworks followed by resurfacing the roundabout and surrounding area.

👏 Well done to the crew for their dedication and professionalism—and thank you to Stratus Imagery for capturing the progress with brilliant drone shots on Sunday evening.

In June, Dowhigh had the pleasure of working at the iconic Royal Birkdale Golf Club – proud host of The Open in 2026.

As part of ongoing preparations for this world-class sporting event, our team was entrusted with resurfacing key access roads throughout the course. This crucial work ensures smooth and durable routes for maintenance vehicles, staff transport, and event logistics, all while preserving the natural beauty and prestige of the surroundings.

We take great pride in contributing to the legacy of such a renowned venue and are delighted to support its readiness for one of golf’s most celebrated tournaments.
