After 44 years at work in the gas and heating industry I’ve decided to call it a day, retire, put my feet up for a short time and then persue new ventures.
I would like to thank my hundreds of regular customers for their business, friendship and support through good times and recent very challenging times.
Thank you xx😀

We are open for business to attend to heating breakdowns as a priority. Regular service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Happy New Year everyone, thank you for your support during these difficult times. We are still open for business whilst in Tier 4 however routine work is suspended until we enter a lower Tier. We hope to be able to attend heating breakdowns whilst maintaining social distance from customers. We shall prioritise and attend to heating breakdowns for existing customers whilst in Tier 4 unless we have to self isolate. Please continue to contact us and we shall help if we can, however, we can not attend if you are unwell, showing symptoms or have received a positive test result for Covid 19.

01/11/2020

We are open for business, however from Wednesday 5th November routine service work is suspended until the current lockdown is lifted, hopefully December.

We have unfortunately had to make the decision to close the business until further notice due to the Corona Virus. Regular customers may contact me if you have a boiler breakdown or emergency and I will try and help you. Thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe!

Remember to check the date on your Carbon Monoxide alarm. We supply and recommend Honeywell Xc100 alarms with 7 or 10 year warranties.

The spooky season is here! Among the ghouls and pumpkins, could there be a real-life threat lurking in your home? Remember to get your appliances checked annually and get an audible CO alarm to prevent yourself becoming a victim. http://ow.ly/Pf0030mbO8i

In freezing weather if your condensing boiler stops working have look and see where the white plastic pipe coming out of the bottom of the boiler (condense drain) terminates. If it passes through the outside wall its most likely frozen up. If the boiler makes an unusual gurgling noise thats the condensate (water) building up in the combustion chamber, this normally flows out of the condense drain but not if its frozen up outside. You need to find a way of thawing out the pipe outside, various methods can be used, boiling water from kettle for instance.

Don't think that trace heating on the condense pipe will always work as I went to one yesterday which had frozen condensate. Customer said on the phone it was impossible unless the trace heater had stopped working. Unfortunately the installer terminated the pipe in a gutter, this had frozen solid as the down pipe for the gutter froze.

Cutting the condensate pipe and terminating in a bucket is a temporary fix but if you do disconnect the pipe you run the risk of allowing fumes to escape into the house. If the boiler has a suitable internal trap then this shouldn't be a problem, please be aware not all boilers have this.

Thanks

Sad to hear, a van was stolen last weekend from Scothern Village Hall car park. A bit too close for comfort
