Swapping products between two silos without stopping production is no easy task, but we’re making great progress.

We’ve been down at Noble Foods this week changing over a couple of product silos to allow the more used product to be stored and discharged from a larger silo and so reducing the delivery frequency and better matching production needs. Upgrading the bulk handling equipment on both lines will also reduce the risk of product bridging at the outlets and boost overall material flow.

Best of all, zero downtime. The works have been phased to allow the mill to keep running full steam ahead while we work on one line at a time. Silo 2 already has its new screw discharger fitted, and the team will be moving onto Silo 1 next.

Also, an access improvement that we installed last month. The main goal here was to improve maintenance access for the on-site team by installing a full width platform extension, making it easier and safer to maintain the bulk handling equipment at high level.
