Most vehicles have what is called an ECU (or Engine Control
Unit) which is a computer that controls how the engine works. Vehicle manufacturers automatically de-tune the engine by
setting the software on the ECU to a default setting before
sending the vehicle out. This is done because the
manufacturers sell their vehicles all over the world, this means
that the software se
ttings inside the ECU have take into
account the different climates, laws & restrictions and the
varying quality of fuels. ECU Remapping is modifying the original software in the ECU
to allow the engine to run at it's optimum without any restrictions,
this allows the engine to run as it was meant to. Most of the remapping that we do is done by plugging special reading and writing equipment into
your cars serial port (or OBD port) which then overwrites the original engine software with a new
version to enhance the engine performance, we also do Chip Tuning, BDM, Tricore and other

Remapping then continue reading below which goes into quite a bit of detail. OBD Remapping Stage1 (Vehicles from 2000 to 2010)
This is the easiest way to remap your vehicle for us and is usually the cheapest method for you, it
is done by connecting our tuning tool to the OBD port located within your car and downloading the
tuning parts within. We will then open this file with our tuning software and make all the necessary
increases where required. When we have completed all the necessary changes required we will then upload the new map
back into your vehicle through the OBD port and then the remap is complete. Tricore Remapping (Some vehicles from 2009 onwards requires the removal of the ECU)
With this method we would have to remove the ECU from your vehicle and open it up on the
bench, we will then make a simple connection to the circuit board that will bypass the chip
protection that has been enabled by the manufacturer, this is something that was introduced in
2009 and implemented on a lot of 59 plate registered cars and onwards (we call this tricore
protected), we will then perform the same procedure as we do with the OBD remapping, when we
have completed this process we will then replace the ecu back in the vehicle and then the remap is complete.
