Celebrating 110 Years of Tippers – Throwback Thursday!
A brilliant throwback to 1993, showing the original Kidderminster Sales Office and Shop - complete with the official Tippers company car of the time, a Rover 200!
The signage proudly highlights some of our key product ranges back then, including Catnic lintels and our extensive stocks of clay pipe and fittings - staples of the trade that many customers will still recognise today.
It’s amazing to see how much has evolved over the decades, yet our focus remains the same: offering great service, trusted brands, and everything the trade needs — all under one roof

In 2026, Tippers celebrates 110 years in business, a huge milestone for our 5th generation family-owned and independent company. Tippers was founded in 1916 as a builders’ merchant, but our roots in the building materials trade go back even further — to 1888, when the Tipper family operated an Alabaster Gypsum mine in Tutbury!

An amazing aerial photo from 1993, capturing the self-selection shop at our Lichfield branch, truly a one-stop shop for all tradespeople, with something for every trade under one roof!
At the time, this was the largest builders’ shop in the area, setting new standards for product range and customer experience. The kitchen and bathroom displays were even designed inside replica high street shopfronts: a unique and innovative touch for the era!
