🚨 Tackling Plant Theft in the Rail Sector 🚨
At Vp Torrent Trackside, we’ve taken a significant step forward in protecting our fleet - and our customers’ projects - from the growing threat of plant theft.
We’ve begun rolling out forensic asset marking across our entire fleet, in partnership with industry leader Selectamark Security Systems.
This initiative will see all Torrent Trackside and other Vp Group plant assets:
✅ Forensically marked with unique DNA technology (invisible to the naked eye)
✅ Tagged with secure ID labels
✅ Registered on a secure national asset database for rapid identification and recovery
Working closely with our customers, we’ve also introduced clear visual deterrents — signage at site entrances, depots, vehicles, and on the plant itself — to send a strong message to potential thieves.
The reality is stark: without DNA marking, proving ownership and recovering stolen plant is often impossible. With it, we can not only recover assets faster but also support prosecutions. And the cost? Less than £1 per asset.
We believe this is a game changer for the rail sector — one that will help keep vital projects on track.
