On a very still night in the hills of west Shetland, having been feasted upon by midgies 😆, the time spent at this loch was worthwhile for our fishing customer.

The bright skies, dark waters and very light winds were perfect for the Totally G spinner and three wild brownies were caught in the following perfect order - 6oz, 10oz, 14oz - before being released.

As the evening progressed and the skies darkened, a change was made to use the Aglia Copper 3 and this attracted one more 10oz, and a battle through the weeds (see photo) to round off a nice nights work.

Both lures are available in our collection with a new addition - the Abu Droppen 8g Matte Fluo Orange. We're thinking this spinner will also do well on bright days in murky water conditions- reports pending 😃!?

After the safe removal of the North Cormorant topsides North Sea oil rig and transportation by to Dales Voe in Shetland for dismantling by , we are very pleased to play a small part in this huge project.

We currently have the following equipment on hire to the Ninian Northern decommissioning work:

• 2x 500kVA Synchronising Diesel Generators (Caterpillar C15)
• 1x 150kVA Diesel Generator (Caterpillar C7.1)
• 1600A Synchronising Switchboard
• 800A Distribution Board
• Sub-distribution and cables
• 4500 litre fuel tank and hoses
• 500 litre AdBlue tank
• Delivery to site and final installation and commissioning

The system provides all temporary power to Brown and Mason’s specialist hydraulic equipment for moving the Ninian Northern platform ashore from the transfer barge.

This provides a high-capacity temporary power solution, with built in redundancy, to support this ongoing, very large and complex decommissioning activity.

Our congratulations to the Lerwick Port Authority for overseeing and implementing the logistics for getting the massive lifting vessel, Pioneering Spirit, and associated vessels, safely into and out of Lerwick harbour.

Catches fishing from the piers around the Lerwick area seem to be a little smaller this year according to some of our customers with mackerel a little harder to come across too.

The mackerel and piltocks were much more abundant and larger in 2025 but perhaps all the dredging and other high volume work that's taken place this year around the main harbour has had an affect?

A pier recent visit was recorded with some success catching smaller fish on the .official V2.0 Real D-eel and Shakespeare Salt Minishrimp Lure Sz8, both available from shop lure range.

A couple of images, taken only five minutes apart, during a fishing trip as the recent eclipse occurred.

The first image was during the eclipse, when the water went still and clear (and the midgies reportedly appeared and were ravenous!), and the second minutes after with the wind picking up and water darkening again.

A Mepps 2 Copper Leaf, was the lucky lure that hooked a 12oz wild brown (released) later in the evening with overcast skies and clear, slightly darker waters. Another successful lure from our shop's spinner range.
