CHS Services (Electricians of Distinction) are Leighton Buzzards longest established electrical contractors, established by my Father Anthony in 1961 it is now run by me-Matthew Barnett-Vincent. We work with both domestic and commercial clients from our office in Leighton Buzzard and satellite office in Harrold, North Bedfordshire. CHS have a specialist highly experienced team who deal with rural

and agricultural properties throughout Beds,Bucks,Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire, we offer bespoke electrical services from an extra socket for domestic customers to 3 phase power distribution for commercial clients. All works are carried out to the latest electrical regulations with great attention to detail in terms of both installation and documentation. We adopt a partnering and non-adversarial approach to the needs of our clients, with business being conducted in a modest, open and honest way, our strength lies in our ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, indeed we have numerous clients where the relationship stretches back decades. We are as a company: Registered Competent Person- Electrical (NICEIC) which is the latest standard for electricians. We do not charge a separate call out fee and our charges are both transparent and fair, we look forward to meeting you.

After being called out to investigate a power “trip” at a property in LB I discovered the dreaded rodent damage. In fact on further investigation vulcanised Indian rubber (VIR) cable dating from the 1950’s was found still in use. This type of cable was once widely used but the aging process causes the insulation to deteriorate, leading to potential electrical hazards and an increased risk of fire. Exposed live wires, brittleness and the possibility of circuit overloads are just a few of the dangers associated with VIR cables.

Luckily my clients hadn’t moved in yet so putting things right is far easier in an empty house!

at least the 1950’s!

When was the last time your property was inspected and tested? thinking of buying or selling then an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) should be carried out- a relatively small outlay could save you 💷💷💷 and give you peace of mind.

I have just replaced this consumer unit and updated the Earthing by adding additional Earth Electrodes as when the installation was originally tested the readings were more than 3 times the permissible levels.

uses the latest BMS interfaces to compensate for changes in the weather and intelligent pumps, all designed to save the end user energy.

Here at CHS we have over 70 years combined experience of gas boilers and associated control systems, be they small domestic or very large commercial systems. We are Gas Safe and NICEIC registered so you can be sure your installation is in safe hands.

It is more often easier to use one contractor for both the gas and electrical aspects of any project, saving you from trying to liaise with and organise different trades-who will likely struggle to agree on timings and availability!

I was asked to carry out a Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) on a local property, whilst testing one of the socket circuits I discovered a fault with a Neutral cable. After some investigation to narrow down the area where I believed the problem was likely to be I lifted some floor boards and Bingo!

Now to set to work and put this horror show right. This really does highlight the importance of electrical testing. Did you know that all domestic properties should be tested at least every 10 years? with more frequent inspection requirements for rental and commercial.
