After being called out to investigate a power βtripβ at a property in LB I discovered the dreaded rodent damage. In fact on further investigation vulcanised Indian rubber (VIR) cable dating from the 1950βs was found still in use. This type of cable was once widely used but the aging process causes the insulation to deteriorate, leading to potential electrical hazards and an increased risk of fire. Exposed live wires, brittleness and the possibility of circuit overloads are just a few of the dangers associated with VIR cables.
Luckily my clients hadnβt moved in yet so putting things right is far easier in an empty house!
For all types of electrical works please get in touch with Matt who will be happy to help.
