What an incredible week in Boston!

Christina King and Mike Allen have wrapped up at Group Americas, as they joined global energy leaders, researchers, and developers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Three structural shifts stood out:

1. The Infrastructure Race: Commercialisation timelines are accelerating rapidly, shifting the sector from a pure physics challenge to an industrial scale-up race.

2. The HTS Bottleneck: Scaling compact magnetic confinement systems requires standardising high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tape processing from thousands to hundreds of thousands of kilometers annually.

3. The Demand Pull: Unprecedented power consumption from data centers and AI clusters is positioning hyperscalers as critical, immediate off-takers for scalable clean energy systems.

As the industry moves from pilot prototypes to continuous deployment, a trusted, high-precision supply chain is the enabler. From our facility in Leicester, Ridgway Machines is proud to deliver the specialized cabling, winding, and taping infrastructure making this future repeatable.

We’re heading to FusionX Americas at MIT from June 9-11 to connect with the global fusion ecosystem.

For decades, Ridgway has specialised in the design and manufacture of high-precision taping, winding and wrapping machinery for the production of conductors, cables and coils.
Today, that expertise has evolved into developing the specialised HTS cabling, coil machinery, and magnet technologies required to power the fusion energy revolution - a transformation that directly intersects with the core mission of this year's hashtag .

As the global ecosystem gathers at MIT, this forum marks a defining moment for aligning our advanced industrial manufacturing capabilities with the strict engineering demands of the growing fusion sector.
