We are primarily a steel fabrication company, who specialise in the design, fabrication and installation of metal works, such as guards, staircases, balustrades, access pla

tforms and many other associated metalwork’s. We are able to provide these metal works in mild carbon steel, Aluminium and stainless steel. We also specialise in the manufacture and installation of manual and automated access barriers, gates and bollards, as well as specialised pedestrian segregation systems. We are able to confidently manufacture, supply and install the following
fabrications:

• Access steps, stairs, platforms, mezzanine floors and associated
balustrades.
• Specialist machinery, to customer requirements.

We are hiring:

GMC currently have a vacancy for a Gate Automation Engineer.

Due to company growth, we are expanding our workforce and require a Gate Automation Engineer, to become an integral part of our team.
The ideal candidate must be able to work under their own initiative and with other team members in a professional and safe manner, as well as liaise with the office and our clients on site team.
The candidate must have and be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of automatic, tracked sliding, cantilever, swing and bi-fold gates, as well as automatic parking barriers, bollards and turnstiles.
They must also be conversant with entry/exit control systems, audio and video intercom systems and other automation control systems.
They must have an excellent grasp of the health and safety aspect of automatic gates (BSEN and CE regulations and requirements), including the ability to be able to risk assess gates & barriers, advise customers on any relevant safety issues with their gates & barriers, as well as carry out force testing and record the results correctly to form part of O&M manuals.
Ideally the candidate would also be able to weld with both MIG and MMA processes.
A good understanding and knowledge of the following systems would be advantageous:
• CAME
• NICE
• FAAC
• BFT
• Parking Facilities
• Frontier Pitts
• GiBiDi
• BPT Access control systems
• Videx Access control systems
• Paxton access control systems.
The candidate will also be required to hold a current minimum of a CSCS card and have been recently CRB checked and will be required to be CRB checked in the future.
The role comes with an excellent pay rate for the right candidate and normal working week would be 40hrs.

GMC Fabrication services are currently looking for a Fabricator/Welder to work in our busy workshop and on site. The candidate will also have experience gate automation experience.
You will join our close knit team and be able to work as part of team and under own initiative, as well as being able to work from fabrication drawings, measure up and produce accurate fabrications from their own sketches.
The position isn’t only workshop based, but will require the candidate to work at our clients premises, be these construction sites, factories, schools/colleges, health centers and offices. You must have a good understanding of working in a safe and sensible manner, as well as working to risk assessments and within site rules.
Experience is required with the use of industrial band saws, pillar drills, plasma cutters, MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes, as well as the use of various hand held power tools, including 4..5” & 9” Grinders.
The candidate must be able to work with Mild Steel, Stainless Steel Aluminum and some specialist materials.
Experience of using CNC Plasma cutters and Press Brakes, would be beneficial, but isn’t a necessity.
The candidate must have and be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of automatic, tracked sliding, cantilever, swing and bi-fold gates, as well as automatic parking barriers, bollards and turnstiles.
They must also be conversant with entry/exit control systems, audio and video intercom systems and other automation control systems.

You are required to hold a full clean UK driving license, CSCS card and either have been CRB checked, or be acceptable of us having you CRB checked.
The following additional qualifications would be helpful but are not essential, IPAF, PASMA, First Aid qualifications, SSSTS, FLT (CITB certification), Certificates for operating CNC press-brakes and Plasma cutting equipment
Experience in the fabrication and installation of access platforms, staircases, handrails, balustrades, machine guarding, small buildings, Industrial automated swing, sliding gates and barriers, manual industrial gates and barriers, conveyor systems, fencing and railings and various other bespoke metal works, would be advantageous.
The role comes with an excellent pay rate for the right candidate and our normal working week is 40hrs, however the candidate must be willing and flexible enough to work overtime as and when the business requires it.

We have recently installed several counter sprung 'up and over' loading barriers, at several sites around the UK.
These have been used as a safe system of segregating the works team, from Fork Lift truck (FLT) zones, but still bulky items to be moved between both area's safely, without the need for FLT's and pedestrian traffic, working in the same area. eliminating any potential accidents between them.
They can also be used for edge protection on loading bays.
We are able to manufacture these to most bespoke sizes, due to the spring assisted operation.

A client based in Bristol came to us with requirements for segregating HGV's drivers and fork lift trucks, to prevent any accidents whilst the HGV drivers strapped there loads up. We helped them come up with this quite simple solution.
We are currently working on several other segregation projects for the same client, to segregate Fork Lift trucks from other operatives within there factory.

We are looking for an Administration Assistant / PA / Book-Keeper to join our busy Pontefract based manufacturing company.

Within this role you’ll be responsible for administration support, project co-ordination & creating/typing up letters of quotations, creating risk assessments and method statements, operation and maintenance manuals, book-keeping and the reception area.

You’ll have a professional, confident and friendly personality, with strong communication skills and be well presented. Motivated and capable of working without supervision, you’ll have strong administration skills with excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word and Excel). Ideally accounts experience, in particular Sage would be beneficial. This is a varied role with reception, administration, accounts responsibilities and acting as a PA to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities will include;
•Dealing with customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
•Assisting the MD in keeping records of appointments, writing up quotations, replying to customers and other general duties.
•Maintaining the in house job book/files & co-ordinating jobs/projects.
•Administration support to all staff in the office.
•Sales support where required including preparation of sales documents.
•Collating and forwarding weekly employee hours to accountants.
•Filtering post and telephone calls and ensuring correct prioritisation.
•Greeting visitors at the office.
•Ensuring that staff records are kept up to date for expenses, travel, holidays and sickness.
•Ensuring workshop consumables, office stationary and other items are kept in stock.
•Logging purchase invoices received and providing authorisation where appropriate.
•Responsible for completing quarterly VAT returns within the specified time and making all necessary payments to HMRC.
•Management of subcontractor CIS deductions, customer/construction CIS deductions, filing returns and payments to HMRC.
•Assisting in producing accurate and correct method statements and risk assessments.
•Producing Operation and Maintenance manuals for the handover of completed works.

Our current working hours are Mon 8:00am – 4:30pm Tue – Thurs 7:00am – 4:30pm and Fri 7:00am – 12:00pm. Hours are between 16-30hrs per week, with holiday cover as and when required.
