J.W Crowther & Son will shortly be trading under Ground Control

Following on from Ground Control’s acquisition of J.W Crowther & Son in 2019, the company has continued to successfully grow its footprint and also compliment Ground Control’s already existing Gritting business.

After another successful winter season, it is now time to consolidate the business into Ground Control’s overall business entity for all Gritting and Sweeping activities effective 1st October 2022.

There will be no disruption to any client activities as part of this transition, but we will require client instructions / purchase orders to be addressed to Ground Control Limited as opposed to J.W Crowther with effect from 1st October 2022. Any instructions for works up to 30th September 2022 will still be valid.

As a part of the transition to Ground Control, we would also request that customer Invoices from 1st October 2022 are also sent to the Ground Control as the J.W Crowther accounts will be from the effective date.

A Brief History...

Established in 1860, JW Crowther & Son Ltd is a 4th generation family run business that saw in our 150th birthday in 2010. Our current offices are still located on the same land owned by our forefathers; conveniently positioned alongside the M62 so that we can access the whole of Yorkshire and beyond.

1860 Our founder James William Crowther working with a Fowler traction engine, threshing corn.

1950 Albert Crowther with one of our first tipper wagons, a Commer Petrol.

1963 Our Chaseside Loadmaster on one of our early snow clearance jobs in Leeds.
