Private sale by the directors of Challenge Cars Ltd offered to the general public - exceptionally rare JCW, part of the directors personal collection.

This is an exceptionally important and completely unique 2003 MINI R53 Cooper S JCW 225hp road-legal race car, with its remarkable history supported by original period documentation. The car was specially commissioned for a customer with a very unusual brief: he wanted a genuine race-prepared MINI that he could drive to the circuit, race on track and then drive home again. The car was built by John Cooper Garages together with MINI Motorsport with provenance from Tony Franks specifically to fulfil that brief, combining genuine competition preparation with the ability to remain fully road legal. Most race cars required transporting to and from the circuit; this one was deliberately built differently, the brief was road car for the track. Crucially, the original paperwork records that this was the only car built to be driven home from track days, making it a genuine one-off rather than simply a modified road-going R53.

Producing 225hp and carrying documented provenance from the formative years of the R53 John Cooper Works programme from the former John Cooper Garages workshop foreman, this is far more than another rare MINI ā€“ it is a unique surviving piece of John Cooper Works and MINI Motorsport history that never made it to production. We can assert we were all robbed of what could have been should the R56 have not come long.

IAN & CARRIE ARE RACE READY! šŸšŸš¦ We had a number of enquiries on our GP1 from all different potential purchasers, however, after receiving Ian & Carrieā€™s interest we knew they were the ideal new owners for this one. Ian has part exchanged his R56 with fantastic history (which we are putting through prep and retailing), after purchasing it 6 months ago with Neil at MINI Mental. Ian got a taste for Minis and decided to upgrade to our Japanese import GP1, he will be protecting the underside with us in the very near future to retain the exceptional underside condition of this one for future value. Ianā€™s going to be trying out some track days in the near future with our GP1 & Carrie is still plucking up the courage to attend as a passenger but we think this one is the ideal R53 for them both to enjoy and experience those days together on the track šŸ™ŒšŸ» Congratulations on your new purchase guys! šŸŽ‰
