🚨 Commercial Vehicle DEALERS: What do you know about type approval?

If you're selling a new commercial vehicle that's modified before first registration, TYPE APPROVAL is a legal requirement at every relevant stage.

Type Approval is the process that confirms the vehicle meets the required safety, environmental and technical standards.

🔸 Stage 1 → Vehicle Manufacturer
Responsible for the base vehicle.

🔸 Stage 2 → Bodybuilder (SM UK)
Responsible for the body and changes made at their stage.

🔸 Stage 3 → Specialist Converter (SM UK)
Responsible for the modifications made at their stage.

SMUK - we hold stage 2 & stage 3 approval.

Each stage builds on the one before, creating a traceable approval journey for the finished vehicle. If approval is required, DVLA will not register the vehicle without the correct evidence.

Before sending your trucks for additional work, ask:

95 MORE VEHICLES ADDED TO STREAM! 🚛

We're delighted to see our partnership with The Boardall Group continue to grow, with a further 95 vehicles from their fleet now being added to the Stream platform.

👏 Over 12 years at SM UK for Michael Brookes!

Michael joined us back in 2014 as an Installation Engineer, working on everything from vehicle installations to telematics.

In 2016, life changed quite dramatically for Michael. A keen motorcycle racer outside of work, he was involved in a serious racing accident which meant a long road to recovery and almost two years away from work.

Throughout that time, Michael remained very much part of the SM UK team. When he was fit and ready to return, we were incredibly pleased to welcome him back.

Michael returned to take on a new challenge, heading up our new Service department and helping shape the support we provide to customers when vehicles need repairing and, most importantly, getting back on the road.

More than 12 years after he first walked through the doors, Michael is still out there today as part of our Service team, travelling across the UK and looking after our customers and their vehicles.

There's been quite a lot packed into those 12 years, and Michael has been a big part of the SM UK journey along the way.

Thank you for everything, Michael, here's to many more years! 👏
