Bending Steel tube by Hand, without using a pipe bender or mandrel bender. For a Honda Six 🔥

This is done using the Sand Bending technique, where Dry sand is packed into the tube to stop it from collapsing while being bent, using heat to soften the metal, just enough that it allows it to be formed.

This method can used to bend all kinds of different types of tubing. Big bore to smaller bore...
Round, Square, Rectangular box.
And in materials suchs as mild steel, stainless, Titanium and Aluminium, as well as plastic piping.

Sand bending Exhaust Headers for a Norvin 🔥

A Norvin is a Vincent Engine in a Norton Frame.

Sand Bending is where the Steel Tube is Packed with Dry sand to Prevent it collapsing, while heating is used to bend the tube into the desired shape.

This set of Header pipes have been made from 48mm mild steel tubing and will be Chrome plated afterwards to prevent them rusting. 😊👍

Starting up a Vincent Motorcycle. 👌😁
This is a 1950s Engine, fitted into an Egli frame.

The customer wanted to know what the pipes sounded like before paying for the pipes and taking the bike away. So this is a video of him, firing the bike up for the first time, since having the new set of big bore, Straight through Exhaust pipes made for it, by Raysons Exhausts in the UK. 🇬🇧

The header pipes are 2inch, 50mm, Sand bent and Nickel plated in a Black Lightning Style. 🔥

Making an Exhaust system for a 'James Cotswold' Scrambler, which is a British Motorcycle fitted with a Villiers Starmaker, Two Stroke Engine.

Which was a common engine, fitted to many British Scramblers of that era, including Brands like Cotton, Greeves and DMW. 😊👍
