PCA has specialised in conservation engineering since it was established in 1979, with founder, Paul Carpenter, leading the charge.

One of our longest standing clients in this area is the National Trust and, since the 1980s, we have worked on various properties under their care, including St Michael's Mount, Buckland Abbey, Cotehele, Saltram House, Overbecks, Lanhydrock and A La Ronde to name a few!

We hope to continue working alongside the National Trust on these historic buildings, preserving them for future generations to enjoy.

AWARD SUCCESS!

Tumbly Hill, Kingsbridge has been awarded Gold for Best Small Housing Development at the Devon Building Control Partnership Building Excellence Awards 2026.

Neil Fraser of Prime Build South West Ltd was also awarded Best Site Manager for his input on the project - congratulations!

The site presented multiple structural and drainage challenges, which we were able to resolve to create this stunning waterside property.

Throwback to when some of the team visited Chelsea Flower Show to see the Lady Garden Foundation’s ‘Silent No More’ garden.

Designed by Darren Hawkes, the garden required our input for the engineering of the structural aspects. The garden celebrated a well-deserved Gold award for Best Construction of a Show Garden.

We love a loft conversion project, especially in locations like these!

It was a pleasure to work on Mount Folly Penthouse with the team and help create a penthouse in this magnificent farmhouse. We managed to justify the existing roof structure with only minor strengthening using sensibly sized timbers, making the sitework simpler and far less intrusive to the building. No steels here!

How amazing does St Michael's Mount look!

PCA Consulting has been involved as consultant engineers for St. Michael's Mount for over 20 years.

We have advised on a wide range of issues from replacement lintels and doors to the repair and restoration of the causeway, harbour walls and various buildings on the island, to name but a few.

We are proud to be a part of the team involved in preserving this historic part of Cornwall's heritage.

This evening, the castle will be illuminated in red in support of Air Ambulance Week and the lifesaving work of Cornwall Air Ambulance. ❤

Since becoming the UK’s first air ambulance in 1987, Cornwall Air Ambulance has provided critical care to people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, responding when every minute matters. The charity relies on public support to keep its helicopter flying and its specialist crew responding to those who are seriously ill or injured.

For an island community, and for the many people who visit St Michael’s Mount each year, having this vital service within reach is particularly important.

Much of our design work as engineers is covered up once building works are completed, so we are pleased to share a great example of some steel reinforcement we inspected recently. By now it will be covered in concrete, never to be seen again, however, it forms an integral part of the structure, so it was satisfying to see such attention to detail and tidy work which will go towards ensuring the longevity of this build.

After lending their expertise to the original build of the clubhouse, PCA’s services were called upon again when Kingsbridge RFC decided to embark on an ambitious project to extend the same clubhouse.
