Kingsbridge RFC now has an extended facility that befits the needs of a very busy rugby club that supports five senior teams and 13 junior teams for boys and girls, while offering additional space that can be used to generate hospitality income.

National Apprenticeship Week & Welcome Oscar!

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we would like to introduce our apprentice, Oscar Hallam. Oscar has been with PCA since September last year and is studying for a degree in civil engineering at the University of Exeter alongside working at PCA.

Oscar‘s highlights so far include:

🌍 Having the best of both worlds - attending University & working at PCA with no two days being the same.

✏️ Gaining experience in both engineering & technical drawing using CAD.

🥾 Visits to site – his favourite so far being an extensive remodel of a house overlooking the Salcombe Estuary.

💡 Having experienced engineers on hand to answer questions and give current real life examples.

Oscar is looking forward to building his knowledge base to a point he is able to work independently on projects.

PCA was delighted to work on this heritage-led regeneration project in Redruth. The Buttermarket was saved from disrepair using materials sourced on site or reclaimed from other Cornish buildings. It's now home to six kitchens, a bar, coffee shop, retail, flexible workspace, and gallery space.

Instead of sending cards we have again donated to Kingsbridge Foodbank and RedR UK.

Our office will be closed from 5pm on Tuesday 23rd December and will reopen on Friday 2nd January 2026 at 9am.

Following the collapse of a garden retaining wall in the grounds of a Grade II Listed property, PCA assisted the clients from the initial survey, providing appropriate structural design and through to project completion.

PCA assumed the role of Project Manager; liaising with the Client, Loss Adjuster, and Contractors. We gained both Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent, acted as the role of Principal Designer under CDM 2015, and provided Contract Admin services. Keeping these services under one roof allowed the project to progress smoothly and successfully.

Given the Listed status of the site, we specified an anchored design that retained the ground behind, with a new wall faced in stone salvaged from the site and mortar that matched in colour and consistency. This will ensure the finished wall, once weathered in, will look just as it did pre-collapse.

We are excited to share the success of this project and some lovely feedback from our client: “Thank you very much for your support with the project, I'm grateful for your help with its very smooth running”

We are looking for a structural engineer to join our busy and friendly team at PCA. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, an excellent communicator, organised and methodical and, most importantly, will have a real passion for architecturally challenging building design.

You will have a degree in civil or structural engineering and will be prepared to work on a wide range of projects, from small domestic projects to multi-million-pound developments, within a variety of business sectors.

We are based in a beautiful area of the UK where exciting, and often stunning, new-build and redevelopment projects are commonplace. We help our clients’ dreams become a reality. We like to say: “There is always a way!”

We probably don’t need to tell you this, but your main tasks will include the preparation of structural calculations and specifications, effective designs that use steel, masonry, timber and concrete, and making sure projects are completed to agreed budgets and timescales.

We need you to be computer literate with knowledge of AutoCAD and typical engineering modelling software. Some site experience would be useful and a clean driving licence would be preferable too. You will need to be able to work independently and as a crucial part of our great team.

Your salary will be dependent on your experience, along with a decent holiday package. A blend of office and home working can be accommodated for the right candidate.
