I recently had a KitchenAid Espresso coffee machine in for repair, most parts for these are available from Gaggia as this is who manufactured the device however some parts are peculiar to the K.A. model and are now obsolete. Such is the case with the steam boiler fl**ge, which had corroded and become porous on this particular machine. The customer did not want to scrap the machine so I prepared a quote to make a new boiler fl**ge which they accepted. Here is the new part made and ready to install. It's not a cheap repair by any means but when compared to the cost of a new equivalent machine at around £1500 - £1700, it made sense to do the repair.

It's been a busy start to the year, with plenty of Kenwood and KitchenAid mixers of all models in for repair, plus commercial and domestic blenders from Waring, Magimix and KitchenAid. I can repair almost all models of Kenwood from the A700 series right up to the later KVC and KVL models - a customer contacted me as they had been told that the newer Kenwoods are not repairable - this is not true and most of the spares are available to enable a cost effective repair to be carried out. Whilst the new ones are not of as good quality as the earlier British models they are still readily repairable!

Fine boring a KitchenAid Professional stand mixer gearcase to accept new sintered bronze bearings after the original bearing collapsed and damaged the housing. Fortunately the gears were undamaged. Component parts are not available separately for these machines meaning a costly replacement of the complete motor and gearbox assembly would otherwise be required. Repairing the original unit results in a stronger assembly and a saving for the customer of some £150 on the overall repair cost.

A common problem with the Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty / Professional mixers is the head coming loose on the stand and wearing the locating dowel holes oval. Here, a purpose made template is being set up to accurately position the holes so they can be bored out and have oversized locating dowels fitted to ensure the head does not work loose.
