That's it then. Just handed the keys in and Carquip is no more. Once again I would like to thank you all for your support over the last 33 years.
I would like to say a big thanks to

Terry at The Motorwell Winterbourne and
Martin and Terry at Car Components Chipping Sodbury for helping me out with my stock clearance. These guys are great independent shops and although a bit of a drive they will save you from going to the H word.

Today was the day I intended to publish my debtors list but unfortunately (or fortunately for them) my wife, who a lot of you know is the reason I am packing it in, has talked me out of it as she is worried that the type of people that don't care about having goods and not paying for them are also the type that will get pissy and want to cause me some aggravation. So it looks like you are all going to get away with it.
I would like to say a big thanks to the people that have come forward to pay their debt and partly restore my faith.
The closing down sale has gone a lot better than I had anticipated and my April 14th closing date has gone out the window. I will be making final reductions during the next week on the remaining stock and will probably be finished in mid March.

During the 33 years of Carquip I have extended credit to a lot of people who have sadly let me down and not paid for the goods they have had.
I've heard every excuse." I'll pay you when my customer pays me. I have a bit of a cash flow problem but will sort it out soon. Can I pay you on pay day? I'm moving away but will pay you before I go. I'm a bit short as it's Christmas but I really need my vehicle to visit my relatives" and even actually denying they have had the goods next time they come in to the shop.
None of the amounts are overly large but the built up total is over £12000.00. As I am closing soon I feel it's time for these people, or the families of, to do the right thing and come and settle up.
I'm not sure how many of people this relates to will read this but if everyone shares it maybe it will work.
Might make the next stage to name and shame. It's a long list.

Last night some one called Derek Upshall left a very unhelpful one star review on Google with the comment "shut".
I have tried to contact him via Google and Facebook to ask him to edit his review with no joy.
If any of you know Derrick could you show him this please.
Hopefully everyone is aware that I used the lock down last year to down size the shop but everything is still available as per normal. I no longer occupy the end unit which is now Studio 11 fitness studio. I am aware that when they are closed their shutters will be down which maybe gives the impression that it is us. A walk of maybe 10 extra yards will lead you to our front door. Yes my hours are shorter at the weekend but we are not or going to be shut for many years to come. Thank you all for your continued support and look forward to seeing you soon,

So I've just had a chap in who I recognise as a customer. He's come to pick up a battery that his son has ordered and paid for.
He gets out his phone and shows me his Halfords Wintersoke Road order. The battery is £20 more than I would of charged him.
He then says can't I supply him one to save him going to Ashton.
He is amazed when I tell him I am not Halfords. Clearly I have not worked had enough creating the Carquip brand over the last 32 years.

These last few months have made me realise that there is more important things in life than working seven days a week.
I hope you all understand and can arrange to shop with us in the time available to you.
It has been interesting times recently and I feel lucky that a lot of people have supported us during this period. I look forward to welcoming you all into the shop again.
