International Women in Engineering Day | June 23rd

Today we celebrate the women who dare to dream, innovate, and reshape the world through engineering.

Engineering is not just about machines or equations—it’s about creating change in every form. From manufacturing to tech, infrastructure to innovation, every skill we bring as women engineers is a building block for a better future.

We are: 🔧 Innovators turning challenges into solutions
🔬 Creators of sustainable progress
💡 Leaders inspiring the next generation
🛠️ Engineers who build with vision and purpose

As a Manufacturing Lead and STEM Ambassador across West Yorkshire, I’ve seen the impact of visibility and advocacy. The work we do matters—and when we lead, we open doors for others to follow.

To the women in engineering, and those aspiring to be:
You belong here. You were made for this.

Let’s keep building, together.

Happy international women's day!

Here's to all the women that go above and beyond to enhance the lives of others, in various career paths.

I am honoured to have amazing men and women that support me in everything I do and believe in my capabilities!

Proud to be an advocate for engineers!

Apprenticeships can be life changing.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some of the best and brightest apprentices in the country based right here in our area.

Many of our award-winning local apprentices are working at some fantastic local employers across our engineering, manufacturing, construction and creative industries.

Apprenticeships have allowed them to learn a trade, gain skills on the job and start some fantastic careers.

This National Apprenticeship Week, I want to see even more businesses across Keighley and Ilkley take on apprentices.

With more young people now considering this route than ever before, it is absolutely vital we continue to back vocational skills — not just the traditional university route — and ensure local talent stays local.

If you’re an employer thinking about taking on an apprentice, or a young person looking at your next steps, do visit 👉 www.nationalapprenticeshipweek.co.uk

As it's my last working day of 2024, it's time to reflect on the year.

This year, I transitioned from clamp manufacturing to boiler manufacturing, a significant change that has allowed me to learn and develop further in the engineering sector.

I have grown to learn new skills by delivering engineering workshops for multiple schools and colleges. I've learned the basics of welding to help understand the needs of the welding apprentices. Finally, I have developed through the challenges I've faced this year to build myself further.

I worked alongside/joined fantastic organisations such as STEM Ambassadors, Keighley Association of engineers, The Leap, Keighley Creative, and a handful of educational colleges and schools.

There have been milestones met, and some are a work in progress; however, my ambition to develop internal systems and reach the next generation has grown much further.

This wouldn't have been possible without those who saw my potential and believed in me and I can not thank each and every individual enough who has supported me throughout this year.

2025, I look forward to the new challenges you bring.
