Last Thursday was a proud night for everyone at Booth Welsh 💙

We’re incredibly grateful to Scottish Engineering for recognising Booth Welsh with the 2026 Skills Excellence Award.

As a business, investing in people has always been at the heart of what we do, from apprenticeships and graduate programmes to creating opportunities that support long-term growth, learning, and inclusion across our industry. To have that recognised by an organisation that does so much to champion and strengthen engineering in Scotland makes this award even more meaningful.

The recognition feels particularly special as it neatly marks our first six months as an Employee Ownership Trust business, a milestone that makes investing in our people and future talent even more important as we continue to grow together.

Scottish Engineering represents a community we deeply value being part of and contributing to. The collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment to developing future talent across the sector is something we’re proud to support and learn from.

A huge congratulations to all of the finalists and winners helping shape the future of Scottish engineering, and thank you again to Scottish Engineering for a fantastic evening and this recognition.

Accelerating AI at Booth Welsh 💡

We have made strong progress building awareness and understanding of AI across the business, and our recent AI Acceleration Away Day marked the next step, focusing on how we apply AI in practical ways to reshape how we work and deliver value for our clients.

The session brought together a selected cohort of colleagues to explore the potential of agentic AI with guest speaker Marcel Lukas from the University of St Andrews.

The day focused on moving from awareness to application, identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, increase productivity, and begin defining practical use cases to take forward.

This is not a one-off event. The focus now is on turning insight into action and embedding new ways of working across Booth Welsh and we look forward to sharing more with you as our AI journey continues!

Great to welcome so many people to Booth Welsh HQ yesterday for Scottish Engineering's latest networking and best practice event.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, and to Scottish Engineering for partnering with us on the day. It was fantastic to see so many valuable conversations, knowledge sharing and honest discussions about the future of our industry.

Just as importantly, it was great to showcase the people behind Booth Welsh, our culture, our values, and the commitment to safety and continuous upskilling that underpins everything we do. And a special thank you to the team in NMIS for their interactive display of the facilities.

We’re proud to create spaces where ideas can be shared, challenged and developed, and where collaboration drives real progress.

Thanks again to everyone who joined us, we look forward to the next!

We aim to bring clarity to complexity in the nuclear and defence sectors.

From concept through to delivery, we combine engineering, digital capability, and sector experience to support safe, robust operations in highly regulated environments.

We’ll be at Nuclear Strategy: Great Britain in Manchester next week and are looking forward to hearing the conversations shaping the future of the industry and catching up with others working across the sector.

Our colleagues Gordon Semple and Derek Allan will be attending, and look forward to connecting 🤝

Take a look at our sector experience summarised below.
