🗣 Men In Mind has made a profound positive impact on the community's men, their families, friends and workplaces over the last 12 months.
Originating from the Aberdeen-founded Men In Mind that only started up itself around 2 years ago, the Inverurie group started off small, with between 6-12 weekly attendees from a pool of about 20-25.
A short time ago, the group held an open night at Inverurie Locos (the club that kindly allows Men In Mind use of space there). This open night was very well attended, around 80-100 people. It was men but also their families and friends. Since then, Men In Mind, under the leadership of current volunteer coordinators including Jamie Lucas and Merlyn Kitchen, has had a regular attendance of 20-25 people.
The biggest difference is seen in the community of men who attend. People who arrived not knowing what to expect, who can talk in an open, safe, confidential space about problems big and small, and also successes in their lives. They have also made good friends, something hard to do as boys and men grow up.
As said, the impact goes beyond the men themselves, translating into more content relationships with partners, wives, significant others and children, work places and hobbies.
