Over the weekend, one of our team met a group of remarkable women on The Banham Marsden March, a walk to raise awareness and donations for The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They stopped to talk, heard why they were walking, and left a personal donation on the spot.
Back in the office, the team shared what they had heard. We were genuinely moved, and ATAC Solutions has donated £500 to support this brilliant initiative.
Among the walkers was Lou. Her daughter Billie asked us to share their family’s words:
“Our daughter Harlee was just two years old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour at King’s College Hospital on 21 January 2022. She had emergency surgery to remove the tumour, it took fourteen and a half hours.
Over the next sixteen months she needed chemotherapy, and our journey with The Royal Marsden, Sutton, began. Treatments were often overnight stays. The staff were brilliant, always friendly, kind and supportive.
Harlee was so young she would call her visits “going to the Doctor’s house.” On 29 June 2023 she rang the bell to mark the end of treatment. Thankfully, she is cancer free.
Now six, Harlee still has regular MRIs at the Marsden to make sure she remains well. She is a normal, healthy, happy little girl. We cannot thank the Marsden staff enough for all they have done. They have been, and still are, a big part of our lives as a family, especially the children’s centre.
Billie”
Stories like Harlee’s remind us why fundraising matters. Every step on the march, and every pound donated, helps nurses, doctors and research teams deliver outstanding care and develop life-saving treatments used across the UK and around the world.
