WE have a Second Hand Paddock Vacuum for sale It is a Trafalgar PC50, a small, manually towed, mobile poo hoover listed as a leaf, litter and dog mess collector on their website and it is excellent used for horse manure. I've used one myself and although it can be a little heavy to push or pull when full it really does do a great job. Petrol fuelled with a Honda, 4 stroke engine it is very reliable with durable construction and a hopper capacity of approx 50 litres it is ideal for smaller yards, horse owners or alpacas. Replacement hoses, collection bags, and plastic pick up tools are available. It has only been used a handful of times.

Huge turnout for Tim Hill's, Kellands Plant Sales Ltd, funeral on Monday in Delabole in Cornwall. There must have been 300-400 people there and most of them came back for the Wake. Really good send off and it just shows what a well-known and popular man he was. I hope his family were reassured by that and we want them to know that our thoughts are with them.

According to Greenslade Taylor Hunt in the South West Farmer newspaper for April, in their article "NAVIGATING GRANTS AND SUBSIDIES IN 2026" "the outlook on environmental grants and subsidies is looking more positive for the farming community.
DEFRA Secretary Emma Reynolds has recently announced that the Farming Equipment & Technology Fund (FETF) will re-open this Spring with the Sustainable Farming (SFI) and Capital Grants scheme re-launching in the Summer.
The FETF will provide grant funding for farmers, horticulturalists, forestry owners and contractors to invest in equipment that enhances productivity, manages slurry and improves animal health and welfare. Grant funding up to £25,000 will be available for each theme.
The reformed SFI will open two application windows, one in June for "smaller" farms or those without existing agreements and one in September for all farms. The simplified scheme will ensure funding is spread more widely with changes that include an annual agreement payment cap of £100,000, a reduction in actions from 102 to 71 and removal of the management payment.
A new round of the Capital Grants scheme will re-open in July, with an increased budget of £225 million, compared to the £150 million available last year. Funding will cover a range of items that contribute to environmental benefits, such as managing boundaries, restoring habitats and improving water and air quality. The scheme is highly competitive and the window is expected to be short, so planning in advance is essential.
The Basic Payment Scheme de-linked payments will continue to reduce until 2027 when they will be phased out entirely. Therefore, now is a good time to plan ahead and look to explore the new funding opportunities."

Just a reminder that the new round of the FETF (Farming Equipment and Technology Fund) Grant Applications is coming soon.
The grant window opens on 17 March 2026 and closes midday, 28 April 2026.

Grants are available up to 50% to promote Animal Health and Welfare, Slurry Management or increase Productivity. You can apply for more than one grant but you may not receive any, or all, of the funding you apply for.
