This post is a heads up to my customers regarding air filter elements and oil filters.
These filters are made by Roki for Suzuki.
I also use and recommend oil filters made by Roki. This because they are high quality and do the job intended.
This post was prompted by me having just stripped a Gen2 Hayabusa that had been run all season on an aftermarket brand of air filter and oil filter elements.
The damage caused by dust both in the cylinders and enough of it found its way past the piston rings into the oil was catastrophic for the customer.
Luckily the pistons survived but the cylinder block, all 16 valves, piston rings and crank bearings are junk.
If any of my customers have been offered a “cheaper” filter then please consider that it will not be cheap in the end.
The other downside was that as this season went on the client struggled with the car as winning results dwindled and the car became harder to drive as the horsepower went missing.
Even if you can afford expensive rebuilds, nobody wants the ponies to disappear.
