Highly Commended - West Park Flood Alleviation Project 🌿

We are incredibly to have received a Highly Commended in the Sustainability category at the Constructing Excellence in the North East, sponsored by NWG (Northumbrian Water Group).

Located in the heart of Hartlepool, this project, delivered for Hartlepool Borough Council on behalf of the Environment Agency, has achieved lasting, meaningful outcomes, safeguarding 89 homes, improving local infrastructure and enhancing valued community spaces.

By combining innovative engineering with true collaboration, the team navigated complex site challenges, delivering a smart “culvert-within-a-culvert” solution that maintained performance while minimising disruption.

🌱 Reduced carbon impact: saving approximately 22,800 kg CO₂e through HVO fuel and low-impact construction

⚙️ Smarter design: improving efficiency, reducing costs and enabling easier future maintenance

🌳 Community impact: upgraded park areas, improved allotment access and restored heritage features

This scheme is a brilliant example of what can be achieved through innovation, teamwork and a strong community focus, creating a legacy that goes far beyond engineering.

This recognition follows closely on from our success in May, when the project won Small Project of the Year at the ICE Awards, an achievement we are extremely proud of and a testament to the team’s hard work and continued success.💙

Welcoming Learners from Three13 to Teeslink Development project 🚧

We were delighted to welcome local charity Three13 Training & Enterprise to our Teeslink Development site in Eaglescliffe last week. This 54-acre scheme, delivered on behalf of Rula Developments and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, has the potential to create up to 1,000 new jobs and will provide development-ready industrial platforms to drive regional investment and growth.

During the visit, the team provided a detailed overview of the construction activities, with a strong focus on how safety is embedded in every stage of the project. From early planning through to ex*****on, the visitors were shown how all works are carefully coordinated, risk-assessed and carried out in a controlled and methodical way to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained.

The Learners were particularly impressed by the sheer scale of the project and the complexity of the underground infrastructure works, which will support future above-ground development. It was a great opportunity to showcase the often unseen engineering that underpins major construction projects.

With Three13’s Teesside Training Hub located right next to our site, the visit provided a valuable look at real-world construction activity and highlighted potential career pathways within the industry.

The Teeslink team were proud to support the visit and share their knowledge and experience. A big thank you to the entire team for hosting and making the day such a success.

🌿 Volunteers Week at Seymour 🌿

As part of Volunteers Week, our team rolled up their sleeves and took part in a range of activities with an community and environmental focus, including a litter pick at the Phoenix Centre in Hartlepool, helping to make a real difference to the local environment.

We were proud to work in partnership with Tees Community Forest, Hartlepool Borough Council and Trees for Cities to support a cleaner, greener community.

Volunteering is important to us at . It gives us the opportunity to give back, support the communities we work in and take positive action to improve the places that matter to us. With Hartlepool being home to our head office, it was especially rewarding to spend time improving an area that means so much to us.

Investing in Our Fleet & a Greener Future 🌍

Last week, we welcomed six new Plug-in Hybrid Ford Connect vans to the Seymour VHE fleet, another step forward in our commitment to modernising our operations and reducing our environmental impact.

These additions not only strengthen our fleet capability but also support our journey towards a more sustainable, low-carbon future.

We are also to showcase our NWG partnership branding on the vehicles. Seeing the logo on our vans for AMP8 is a great reminder of the strong collaboration we have built, one our teams take real pride in.

Earlier today, our supervisors and site managers delivered a powerful toolbox talk on Mental Health Awareness. These sessions are so important, they help equip our teams with the knowledge, tools and confidence to look after themselves and each other, both on and off site. Just as importantly, they remind everyone where to turn for support when it’s needed.

We could share the number of Mental Health First Aiders across our business or talk about our new mental health podcast, but what truly matters is this: as an industry, we all have a part to play in breaking down stigma, creating space for open, honest conversations about mental health and looking after each other.

Framework Announcement 🏗️

We are to share that has secured a place on the North Yorkshire Highways Framework on Lot 1 and Lot 2.

The works will focus on highways infrastructure, including repairs, resurfacing, reconstruction, slurry sealing, drainage works, kerbing, retaining walls and bridge works.

Just two weeks to go until the ICE North East Annual Dinner and Robert Stephenson Awards 2026! 💧🌍

We are incredibly to be shortlisted for the Small Project Award (under £1m) for our West Park Flood Alleviation Scheme, delivered on behalf of Hartlepool Borough Council for the Environment Agency.

The scheme protects 89 residential properties and showcases how targeted engineering and intelligent design can deliver climate resilience with a significantly reduced construction impact. By optimising and extending the life of existing assets, rather than undertaking carbon‑intensive reconstruction, the project reduced embodied carbon while strengthening long‑term flood resilience.

Innovative problem‑solving, including a culvert‑within‑culvert solution, avoided major demolition, reduced excavation and removed the need for road closures, delivering clear engineering, environmental and community benefits.

Low‑carbon construction practices were central to delivery, with HVO fuel, hybrid eco‑cabins and biodegradable hydraulic oils, alongside environmental enhancements that supported natural recovery and improved community spaces within Ward Jackson Park.

A fantastic example of collaboration, innovation and sustainability in action.
