Used for installing ducting, piping, and equipment suspended from a ceiling, vibration hangers come in three types: rubber hangers, spring hangers, and combined rubber and spring hangers. There are two types of spring hangers and two types of rubber hangers – housed and open, with housed hangers having a higher load capacity than open hangers. Rubber hangers come with damping characteristics, whereas spring-based hangers have negligible damping but a greater load range and deflection for improved efficiency of vibration isolation. Combined hangers are the perfect choice in all cases where a broad spectrum of different vibration frequencies will require isolation.

FEA or other methods can be used to investigate the structural integrity of equipment to ensure that it will not disintegrate under seismic forces. The primary concern is to meet the mechanical strength criteria to demonstrate that components or sections of the equipment will not disintegrate or fail, and that the equipment will remain in one piece. Our most recent FEA involved a diesel generator installed in a container. The seismic qualification of the diesel generator assemblies was carried out in a highly analytical manner, with finite element models of the assembly, including all its components such as the generator, diesel engine, common underframe as well as the attachment to the container, where individual strength was checked in accordance with the relevant codes and standards, and the diesel generator assembly was comprehensively evaluated under seismic loading.

We have rubber and spring type seismic isolators that eliminate any need for snubbers since they use ductile steel housings which supply directional restraint. The most commonly used spring versions are isolators with a stud or a top plate. For dealing with larger equipment such as generators, cooling towers or chillers, top plate models are the best choice, providing optimal vibration isolation and resistance to major seismic forces. Small equipment can be fitted with stud isolators. For the highest frequency vibration isolation applications or for equipment installed in areas that aren’t sensitive to vibration and noise, rubber isolators are required.

Rubber vibration isolators are able to achieve their goal thanks to the excellent deflection and damping characteristics that they offer due to the rubber compound used which is moulded in a range of A Shore hardnesses from 30-70 durometer. As a result, they can dissipate vibration energy effectively and are ideal for deflections of up to 0.3 inch or 8mm. Metal inserts are bonded to the rubber so the isolators can easily be fixed onto the supporting structure or equipment base. Whenever vertical or horizontal forces are expected because of high winds or earthquakes, then housed rubber mounts are the ideal solution.

Acrefine offers six different types of pad isolators for our customers to choose from. All of our pad isolators are extremely high in quality, they include:
API-M – A modular rubber pad that has been designed to help minimize the amount of noise transmission and vibration from structures and equipment. They can easily interconnect and can be cut to shape with a box knife for ease of use.
API-MC – A rubber pad with a sandwich style design with a special type of copolymer material has been placed between two rubber layers. Its elastomeric properties make it an ideal choice for vibration isolation and noise control.
API-MF – Foam copolymer material is sandwiched between two layers of flexible rubber in the API-MF's construction. The elastomeric qualities of this unique structure outperform those of common materials like shredded rubber or cork.
API-C – Large pads with 26mm in thickness that are made of rubber with sandwiched copolymer material that is elastomeric and aids in vibration isolation and noise control.
API-D – Like API-C except it doesn’t include the copolymer layer and therefore it is 14mm in thickness. The sheets have a ribbed design so that it doesn’t slip off in a random direction when under force.
API-S – 7 mm thick pad that is similar to API-D however it only has a single layer of ribbed and can be used to line under any equipment.

You may already be familiar with noise cancelling technology, but have you heard of noise control? Noise control is a strategic method of reducing noise pollution or to help with the reduction of impact noise.
✅ Noise control can be managed appropriately to reduce the amount of noise from things like machines or the likes of metal impacting onto other metal or hard surfaces. There are various strategies for minimising noise and exposure to noise; frequently, a mix of strategies yields the best results.
✅ Consider first how to completely stop the loud noise. If it isn't possible, try your best to stop the noise at its source and think about restructuring the workspace and rearranging work schedules. If necessary, take action to protect specific employees from extreme levels of noise pollution.

Installing a seismic vibration isolator with a top plate can be confusing for the first time. That’s why Acrefine Engineering have curated a knowledgeable, useful and simple to follow guide on how to install a seismic vibration isolator with a top plate on our YouTube channel.

Such seismic isolators are of the spring type, which means that top and bottom plates are wedged by springs to isolate vibrations. By withstanding seismic energy coming from all directions, the steel structure protects against earthquakes. These isolators stand out because of their top plate, which makes it simple to install directly or using support beams.

To dampen low frequency tremors, ordinary springs featuring deflections of 1, 2 and 3 inches are employed. A single housing can accommodate many spring configurations, enabling the isolation of very heavy machinery.
