Case Study – Highbury Homes, Going Above & Beyond
LWP Site Solutions recently supported our project management and building solutions customer, Highbury Homes in navigating a series of unfortunate events that left them in need of assistance in order to safely and effectively complete their own work on site.
To quote the saying “lightning doesn’t strike twice”, well that wasn’t true in this case. In the October a car had driven into the building where we were instructed to supply acro props and prop pals to secure the building. What happened next triggered a number of new, and very urgent requirements.
How Everything Unfolded
At approximately 9pm on Thursday, 5th January we received a call from Highbury Homes advising that another car had driven into the house they were working on, but this time, almost demolishing it. As a result, they needed to make the site safe, and to begin clearance of the debris.
Wasting no time, Gill at LWP got straight onto the phone to our suppliers to start organising the delivery of equipment that was needed to make the site safe first thing in the morning.
First to arrive on site was the telehandler which was used to hold up the front of the house securely enabling the removal of the debris and the still buried car.
Next to arrive was the grab wagon to clear the debris. Clearing the debris using this method was the safest option meaning no site personnel had to go into the danger area.
We also organised for a tracked digger to be delivered to work alongside the grab wagon assisting with the removal of more debris, with a roll on/off skip on site to contain the waste.
Due to the quick action taken all the rubble, debris and the car were removed in less than 24 hours. Heras and Hi Vis fencing were then put in place to cordon off the area until the scaffolders could get to site.
When the rebuild starts we will also be supplying the skips required.
“Just wanted to thank you for all of your assistance on the above job that started on Thursday evening last week. The amount of time and effort you put into getting everything sorted was outstanding, and without your help, this project wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did, so, a massive THANK YOU Gill, you have been amazing.”
Daniel Rhodes, Contracts Manager - Highbury Homes
