JLC Group has commenced an alligator cable carrier replacement project at Gatwick Airport, involving the removal of ageing cable carrier systems and installation of newly manufactured JLC Alligator units designed and built in-house. The project forms part of ongoing aviation ground power infrastructure upgrades to improve operational reliability, cable protection, and airside efficiency.

The JLC Alligator Cable Carrier system is engineered for single-person operation and is used to safely transport high-voltage 400Hz ground power cables between Fixed Electrical Ground Power (FEGP) systems and aircraft stands. The stainless-steel modular design helps reduce cable abrasion, operational damage, and maintenance downtime while extending cable service life.

The latest generation Alligator units feature:

✔️ Modular beam sections from 3m to 30m
✔️ Single or dual 90kVA output capability
✔️ Articulated steel knuckles for enhanced movement
✔️ Compact operational footprint
✔️ Improved corrosion protection and reduced maintenance requirements
