We're proud to be supporting the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation Rope Rescue Challenge 2026 with Gravitas, our new static rope engineered for demanding rescue operations.

Gravitas will be used in the Technical Access & Rescue Challenge at the National Ice Centre on the 1st October, where all 14 teams from across the UK, Jersey and Portugal will complete rescue operations. The rope will also be used throughout the main competition on Friday and Saturday as teams tackle demanding rescue scenarios across Nottingham city centre.

Gravitas is the ideal rope for these challenges, thanks to its very high strength, easy-to-handle polyester cover, and extremely low elongation of 1.7% (NFPA) / 2% (EN 1891).

As UKRO celebrates 20 years of rope rescue challenges under the theme , we're very pleased to see Gravitas helping to support the critical operations of rescue professionals.

“Rescuer positions on the stretcher”

Clive Bush, Rope Rescue Instructor and owner of Prusik Rescue, raised an important topic of discussion at the Prusik Rescue Event: stretcher orientation and rescuer position during raising and lowering operations.

As there are many methods, it can be difficult to know which is most suitable. Looking at the casualty's condition, terrain and the edge transition is vital information to know before choosing the most suitable rescuer position.

One thing remains the same for each rescue. You need equipment you can rely on, no matter the job.

Our new Gravitas static rope was put to the test during the Prusik Rescue challenges. Thanks to its extremely low elongation (2% CE EN1891 / 1.7% NFPA), Gravitas can be trusted during the most critical operations.

With an extremely low elongation of just 1.7% (NFPA) / 2% (EN 1891), Gravitas is also a great option for both SRT and DRT tree climbing, helping to deliver greater stability, improved positioning and less bounce.

Gravitas boasts one of the lowest elongations in the market at just 1.7% at 300 lbs (NFPA) / 2% at 150 kg (CE EN 1891) and super high strength while still being easy to handle.
