As we approach the end of the year, it’s out with the old and in with the new! We're delighted to have also just taken delivery of additional machinery to expand capacity and deliver faster turnaround times for our customers in 2026.

We’re on the lookout for a talented Toolmaker/Machinist to join our friendly and supportive team. This role has come up due to retirement, so you’ll be stepping into a well-established position.

🔧 What you’ll do
Work with manual machines (Milling, Lathes, Surface & Cylindrical Grinders). EDM experience is a bonus, but we can provide training. You’ll use your skills to read engineering drawings, carry out precise inspections, and help keep standards high.

As a sector that relies on skilled hands and minds, it's vital we continue to inspire and invest in the next generation of engineers. And, last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Daniel, a local high school student at Caister Academy for a week of work experience and a first-hand look into the world of precision engineering.

After a full safety briefing and kitted out in steel-toe caps, overalls, and safety specs, Daniel hit the ground running. He spent time learning about different materials and making components for a variety of industries and watching the action take place within the workshop. In Inspection, he learnt about the high-quality control measures required and checking processes involved. He enjoyed the busy stores department, helping to check incoming materials, making records and getting completed components ready to be dispatched to customers.

He wrapped up the week with some of the team over a well-earned trip to the café, a proper end to a packed and productive week!

We were seriously impressed by Daniel’s interest, enthusiasm, and keen eye for detail. We're proud to support early talent and look forward to speaking with Daniel again about apprenticeship opportunities next year.

A massive congratulations to our very own Damion (first pic far left), HY-TEK’s Stores Manager, for his incredible efforts in helping raise £6,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust last weekend!

The March Of The Mods Lowestoft event, held at the Wherry Hotel on 15th March, is part of a series of events celebrating mod culture. It features live music, DJs, and scooter meets, with proceeds benefiting the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Since the event's inception in 2013, more than £1 million has been raised for the charity.

These events, held every March (hence "March of the Mods"), brings together live bands, DJs, and generous volunteers who donate their time, talents, and prizes for raffles, all to support this important cause.

Next year’s event will be at the same venue on 21st March 2026!

As it's National Apprenticeship Week, meet Jake, who will be completing his apprenticeship with HY-TEK later this year.

After 4 years of ‘hands-on’ learning under the supervision and guidance of our experienced and skilled mentors and attending East Coast College, Jake says “I’d recommend an apprenticeship as a route to learning lifelong skills and for me personally will have gained me the qualifications for the official start of my career in engineering”.

We're proud to be helping shape the next generation of skilled professionals in our industry and supporting Jake on his journey. He is a very much valued member of the team and we look forward to his continued growth.
