£1.655 BILLION: The amount that McLaren, JCB, Rolls-Royce, Bentley Motors, Airbus, Numatic and Nissan have recently announced they are investing in the UK.

McLaren Automotive Ltd is investing £500 million - the largest financial commitment in the company's history - and creating 1,000 new jobs to ensure all future McLarens are British-built.

JCB is backing Britain with a £100 million investment in its global headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire.

Rolls-Royce has announced a landmark £300 million investment in its UK manufacturing and engineering facilities.

Numatic International, best known for its Henry and Hetty vacuum cleaners, is investing more than £85 million in Somerset to expand production and develop new products.

Nissan Motor Corporation is investing £170 million at its Sunderland plant as the Japanese carmaker prepares to build a new model in the UK - the Nissan Kicks.

Bentley Motors has invested £350 million in revamping its Crewe plant to build the new Torcal - the historic marques first all-electric model.

Airbus is investing £150 million and creating almost 500 new jobs at its wing manufacturing plant in Broughton, North Wales.

On site in Staffordshire commissioning a 520kW compressor motor soft starter, we built the enclosures on this one, in our workshops.

After some re-programming of the LSI values on the clients protection for their MCCB we had a very nice start at 352% of FLC (920A nominal).

During the commissioning stage, testing medium voltage soft starters in low voltage mode is crucial. Simulations for starting a MV motor play a vital role in ensuring a smooth transition.

One key aspect is the pre-commissioning stage, where verifying all I/O functions and the gate firing control for the SCR's is essential for optimal performance. This process guarantees that all components are functioning as intended before full operation.

Overall, conducting these tests and simulations at various stages is a proactive approach to address any potential issues and ensure the successful operation of medium voltage soft starters.

Our client from Nigeria, in collaboration with their user representative, recently attended here in Great Yarmouth a two-day testing session for three pieces of 200A 3.3kV soft starters. These starters are designated for installation in their new residence just outside Port Harcourt, housed in brand new 20-foot air-conditioned containers. The soft starters will be tasked with powering 355kW centrifugal oil pumps.

Each container will be connected to a feeder panel equipped with a changeover cabinet, allowing seamless integration with any of three 1MW generators. The comprehensive testing encompassed various assessments, including a Hi-Pot test at 7.2kV lasting 60 seconds, a full functional test, operational procedures under no load conditions, lock-off assessments, and evaluation of electro-mechanical interlocks. Additionally, a full I/O test was conducted, meticulously verifying all manual inputs and output interlock signals for optimal performance.

Finally using the smart commissioning feature in the MVE Series we made a series of soft starts using a low voltage motor at 400vac simulating a medium voltage start.

This rigorous testing ensures the smooth operation and reliability of the soft starters, highlighting the commitment to quality and precision in our client's upcoming project.
