This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Matt to MWS for his engineering work placement.

During his time with us, Matt got stuck into some great projects and developed tools that will continue to benefit the MWS team, including our Quick Commercial Pricing Tool and Coil Configuration Tool.

A huge thank you to Matt for all his hard work, enthusiasm and the ideas he brought to the team. 👏

It’s been great to see what can happen when engineering knowledge from university is put into practice in a real manufacturing environment.

We wish Matt all the best for the next step in his studies and hopefully we’ll see you again!

We’ve recently invested in a new triple-axis bending machine, and it’s already helping us improve the way we manufacture our combination feed and expansion pipes.

Previously, these were made with joins. Now, we can produce them without those joins altogether.

This means a simpler manufacturing process, less production time and a better-finished product... all helping us deliver quality products more efficiently.

And we’re only just getting started.

We’re exploring what else this new technology could help us achieve, and there are some exciting possibilities ahead. 👀

We had a fantastic day out at Cluny Activities today, with plenty of fun.. and friendly competition!

The team took on clay pigeon shooting, the golf driving range, mini golf and archery, with some impressive skills on show. 🎯🏌️‍♂️⛳🏹

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and made the day such a success. It was great to see everyone getting involved, having fun and mingling across our office and factory teams.

Days like this are a great reminder of what a fantastic team we have at MWS.

Great team effort, everyone, thank you for making it such a memorable day!

Think about the last time you turned on a tap. 💧

You probably didn't think twice about where that water had been.

But before it reaches the tap, it may have travelled through pipework, been stored, heated and circulated around a building... sometimes for hours, days or even longer.

And every step of that journey matters.

The materials used.
The way the system is designed.
How water is heated and circulated.
How it's installed and commissioned.
And ultimately, how the building is used.

For World Water Week, we're thinking about the part of the water journey that happens after it enters the building.

Because providing safe, reliable water isn't just about getting water to the tap.

It's about making sure it's still safe when it gets there.

And that's something manufacturers, designers and installers all have a part to play in.

Some jobs don't exactly come with a standard instruction manual.

Take moving a still, for example.

Stuart and Davie recently had the job of cutting down and relocating an old still at Eden Mill St Andrews, moving it from one room to another.

It wasn't something that could simply be lifted and carried through the factory. The job needed careful planning, the right approach and, most importantly, a focus on doing it safely.

Working to the agreed RAMS, the team successfully removed, moved and repositioned the still in its new home.

At the same time, we've now completed the new mezzanine floor, which has been certified by Rackit with a load capacity of 8 tonnes.

It's created some valuable additional space in the factory, and we're now looking at how we can make the best use of it.

Projects like this can cause a bit of disruption along the way, but seeing the finished result makes it worthwhile.

A big well done to Stuart, Davie and everyone involved.

Last week we had our annual staff BBQ and although it wasn’t quite the weather we’d hoped for, it certainly didn’t dampen everyone’s spirits!

It was a fun afternoon filled with great food & great company!

A special mention to our very own chef for the day, David, who stepped up and kept everyone well fed!

Another successful staff BBQ - whatever the weather! 🙌

We asked David what conversation stuck with him recently...

"I found out that a large local authority is currently dealing with outstanding warranty claims with another supplier running into six figures.

Six figures.

I couldn't stop thinking about it.

We get something returned to us that's worth £500 and we're straight on the phone, trying to understand what happened and how quickly we can get it resolved for the customer.

The thought of having hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of unresolved warranty claims hanging over you... I honestly don't think I'd sleep at night.

It reminded me why the way you deal with a problem matters just as much as the product you supply. Things go wrong sometimes. That's part of business.

What matters is what you do next.

For me, if a customer has a problem, our job is to pick up the phone, listen, find a solution and get it sorted.

That's the standard I'd expect from us, and the standard I'd want if I were the customer."

Back in April, Tiff popped down to see the Dalkeith School project, so it was great to see the tanks now installed and ready for the school to go back. 👏

But what makes a project like this even better is hearing how the customer found working with us.

Rory Joyce summed up his experience with MWS in three words:

Reliable. Helpful. Quality.

He also mentioned how our team went “above and beyond” by moving the tanks to the front of the production line to help when he and his client were running behind with their orders.

We know projects don’t always go exactly to plan, and sometimes a little extra support can make all the difference. If we can take some pressure off and help keep a project moving, we’re happy to do it.

Rory also said:

“The product is great, the guys are knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful.”

A huge thank you to Rory for the fantastic feedback! It’s great to hear that our team, products and service have made a difference.

And, of course, it’s even better to see the finished tanks in place! 🙌

A tank can be designed, manufactured, and finished to a high standard.

But that doesn't mean much if it doesn't arrive on site in the same condition.

That's why we put a lot of thought into how our products are packaged for delivery.

Commercial tanks and cylinders can be large, heavy and awkward to handle.

They can travel long distances, be loaded and unloaded, and move through busy construction sites before they ever reach their final position.

So packaging isn't just about making something look neat.

It's about protecting the product throughout its journey.

Here's Billy, making sure every tank is packaged to perfection before it leaves us. 👌
