As we reach Hogmanay, 2025 stands out as a year of focus and direction for novosound.

This was the year we committed the company to a single, important mission: applying our thin-film ultrasound technology to improve health. We began with blood pressure, not because it is simple, but because it is fundamental. High blood pressure remains one of the most significant preventable causes of heart disease and stroke, yet is often under-detected and under-monitored.

By developing technology that aims to make blood pressure monitoring more accessible, more comfortable, and easier to integrate into daily life, we’re taking a meaningful step toward better long-term health for millions.

And blood pressure is only the starting point. Our underlying thin-film ultrasound platform has the potential to support a wider range of health insights in the years ahead.

Over the last 6 months, novosound has taken deliberate time to pause, reflect and reset. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us through this period of change.

Change, when done deliberately, is positive. We have restructured, reprioritised, and rebranded around the strength of our proprietary ultrasound technology, developed over the last 7 years.

Our focus is now firmly on health, with a clear vision to see novosound technology embedded into everyday medical devices, alongside sports and wellness applications.

The year ahead is pivotal as we develop a state of the art product that will form the foundation of the organisation and enable long-term platform value.

This next phase is about focus, ex*****on, and turning deep innovation into real-world impact.

We move forward with the strong support of a dedicated team, an engaged Board, and investors who share our long-term vision.

Last week, the novosound team gathered for our Christmas celebrations, a lovely pause in a very busy year.

We started the afternoon in style, with a black-tie Christmas lunch in the Editors Suite at The Citizen. A three-course feast, excellent wine, and the conversation that reminds you why team culture really matters.

From there, we wandered over to Blue Dog for cocktails, music, and a good deal of laughter, the perfect setting to toast the work, milestones, and camaraderie that have shaped 2025.

Moments like these are more than seasonal tradition, they’re a chance to step back, celebrate the people behind the innovation, and gather energy for the important work ahead.

Today, novosound’s R&D Director Dan Irving is participating in the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Awardee Excellence Community events in Glasgow, a gathering that brings together some of the UK’s most forward-thinking engineers, researchers, and innovators.

Dan is demonstrating our ultrasonic blood pressure prototype, powered by novosound’s proprietary thin-film ultrasound platform. It’s an opportunity to share how we’re rethinking BP measurement, moving beyond cuffs and calibration cycles towards a future of continuous, reliable monitoring that fits seamlessly into daily life.
