Freedom One Life Founded by a power wheelchair user, we create next-generation mobility products to allow wheelchair users to live the life they choose.

The founder, Alex Papanikolaou, created Freedom One Life due to the limitations of the stagnant powerchair market which he experienced first-hand. Our vision is to deliver radical change to the market, offering a revolutionary power wheelchair to improve independence and stretch the boundaries of powerchair users. We have done this in 4 key ways:

Performance - we have created the biggest wheelcha

ir battery in the world, delivering a world-beating 40-kilometre range in real-world conditions on a single charge. Our high-efficiency motors deliver triple the power of comparable chairs on the market, and we also have a compact design, ideal for precise manoeuvrability. Reliability and Safety - Our battery has five years of charge cycles, we use premium grade materials to improve strength and stability, and cables and components are completely enclosed, protecting them from damage. Comfort and Convenience - Adjustable ergonomic seating and tilt and lift functions for flexible positioning. We are the only chair in the world to have an onboard, integrated charger. We also use low-pressure, extra-wide rear tyres for a smoother ride. Transportability - 30% lighter than comparable powerchairs on the market, crash-tested, and with accessible lift points for transit.

It’s a bit cheesy, but it’s true!
Far too many powerchair users are limited by battery life. Users left restricted to the small area around their home - it’s isolating and makes your world smaller and smaller. But it doesn’t need to be that way. Our founder Alex was sick of living his life on the terms of his powerchair battery, so making a chair that could last all day (and more!) was essential in the Series 5 development. For most people, charging will only need to be every few days, but you have the confidence to know you have such a large range without the bulky batteries meaning bigger adventures, spontaneous detours and more time busy living your life to the fullest.

We recently worked with the team at Neater Neater Solutions to fit their Arm Support system to a Series 5.

The Neater Arm Support is a really cool piece of kit that helps people with limited arm strength lift and move their arms, opening up everyday moments like eating and drinking independently. Together with the Neater team, we added a fixing point so the system can be easily attached and removed whenever needed.

For any future Series 5 owners would like to use a Neater system, we can now attach them if needed.

Isaac’s Series 5 is built for him, and that extends to the visual look - a bold purple and neon green combo is the perfect combination to fit his personality. As well as looking cool, there is a meaning behind the colours! The purple to represent disability, and the green as a way to show moving forward as he now has the ‘green light’ to get going in his new adventures. The racing stripes look a bit like a road, showing the road is forward from here! 💜

Power seating is more than getting comfy for train journeys or reclining while watching a movie, these features are an essential tool for managing pressure and alleviating tension throughout the day.

Pressure builds gradually, often without you noticing, particularly around the hips and pelvis. Shifting that weight regularly makes a real difference, both in the moment and over time. It's the kind of thing that's easy to forget when you're focused on getting somewhere, but the long-term impact is significant.

We really hope the benefit of power seating functions for is useful for managing his pain throughout the day, making his Series 5 more adaptable during his busy life!

For wheelchair users, feeling safe is something that is often beyond flashy features, it comes from trust, experience and continued support.

Safety looks a bit different for everyone and their own specific needs - for Kate it was things like comfortable belts and supportive headrests, but also knowing the chair is substantial and stable enough to support her seizures.

For others, things like long battery range or the ability to control drive settings empower people to go out for longer, and feel safe and confident while doing so.

That trust isn't built overnight. It comes from a team that stays close and responds when it matters. We keep that relationship going long after the delivery of a Series 5, because for our users, knowing someone is there makes all the difference.

It was refreshing to see a UK business that does everything in house as it has become such a rarity.

Manufacturing in this country has taken a battering over the decades. Much has moved abroad in the name of cutting costs which has led to a real loss of skill and craftsmanship.

Like Active Design, it’s important to us that every Series 5 powerchair is built here in UK, by people who genuinely care about what they're making.
