On Tuesdays, Cadder Community Hub is home to the Cadder Wellbeing Hub ran by Healing for the Heart. The wellbeing hub provides a safe space to connect with others and enjoy a welcoming community atmosphere. With different activities and conversation topics weekly, everyone is welcome to join!

Healing for the Heart is a mental & emotional health and wellbeing charity, providing affordable counselling and community development. If you'd like to get involved or have any questions, contact Donna at [email protected]

Day 6 of week and it’s all about standing up for mental health. The Poverty Alliance highlights that reducing poverty helps to protect and improve mental health. Poor mental health represents a significant and growing public health concern in Scotland, with one in five people in Scotland demonstrating symptoms of a possible mental health problem throughout their lifetime. The severity and impact of this on gender differs, but in particular on Scottish Men, who account for 74% of suicides.

We are therefore taking the opportunity to highlight a local community Men’s Shed that operates in the Glasgow North West area. Maryhill Men's Shed run free weekly woodworking sessions every Thursday (6-8pm) at Boomerang Woodworking 73 Chapel Street, G20 9PD

Through our Community Benefit clauses with our contractors they actively contribute and participate in supporting local community initiatives. This could be for example donating equipment to groups, supporting local projects or volunteering their own time.

This year our contractors generously made donations towards Cadder Gala Day to help make it a rip roaring success. Thank you so much Bell UK , James Frew Ltd and M Squared ! 💜🎉

On Day 5 of week, we are celebrating the incredible organisations that support our community here in Cadder and we couldn’t go without a shout out to the work Kindness Homeless Street Team SCIO and their amazing volunteers do at the Cadder Community Hub. From wellbeing days to community lunches, pay it forward schemes to kids parties, they help support people to come together, connect and thrive. 🎉 🩷

We are also excited for the launch of our Creating Cadder’s Spark project with our new Creative Wellbeing Officer, Elena. You’ll see her about over the next few months, so do not hesitate to stop for a chat about what activities and services you'd like to see at your community hub! 👀

The Poverty Alliance believe that every child deserves a decent start in life and the chance to prosper and thrive. Over four million children are growing up in poverty in the U.K. and Glasgow currently has the highest rates of child poverty in Scotland sitting at 36%.
