NHBC will be launching a new and improved housebuilding event for 2025.

Beyond ’25 Live is a technical seminar that will reflect on the constantly adapting nature of the industry. Discussions will cover standards and legislation, bridging the skills gap and reaching net zero. Additionally, MMC and offsite construction will be considered as key topics.

Not only is offsite construction faster and safer, but it also helps to alleviate the pressures of on-site skill shortages. As the industry evolves it’s great to see timber explored as a sustainable option for housebuilding 👏

Our two factory units are based in central Bedfordshire, where we create tailored solutions for your requirements.

At Pinewood Structures, we use offsite timber frame construction methods that significantly reduce the duration of a build. This allows us to construct a timber frame building approximately 8 weeks faster than masonry construction methods.

We understand that client needs are ever-changing, which is why we remain flexible throughout the build process to suit. As part of this, we also offer factory tours so you can be assured your project is being handled efficiently.

As the only truly renewable building material, timber produces significantly less carbon compared to masonry. This is because it overall requires less energy to construct and can be built off-site in a controlled environment.

Not only this, but as part of a circular economy any timber frame waste can be recycled and reused as additional building material, mulch, pulp or fuel. At Pinewood Structures, we use extra timber as biofuel to heat our factory, so nothing goes to waste!

The government, alongside the NHBC and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), is set to launch up to 32 new Homebuilding Skills Hubs by 2028.

This investment into the multi-skills training hubs is aimed at addressing the industry’s skills shortage by producing 3,000 and site-ready tradespeople per year. NHBC have said that the hubs were designed to be flexible to adapt to housing needs and regulation changes.

This is a great initiative that will help to have more skilled workers ready, faster. We’re looking forward to seeing how this effort will impact the industry as we strive to meet housing demands, sustainably.

Stay informed on changes to NHBC’s Standards that came into effect on the 1st January. This applies to all homes registered to them where the foundations begun on or after the 1st.

Changes include:
👉New Part 11 on Modern Methods of Construction, which was developed following the rise in offsite manufacturing
👉New or updated technical information for around 5% of the total clauses in the Standards
👉Improvements to clause and sub-clause numbering to make recording of Reportable Items and claims information more accurate

Our NHBC Accepts approved Future-Frame is already compliant with the new standards, get in touch if you would like to know more on how you can get a head start on the competition.

Take a look at the HIAVEN, which was recently named ‘Best New Timber House’ in the Wood Awards 👀

Based in the Cotswolds, this low-energy building was designed to integrate with its surrounding landscape. It has an innovative timber-concrete composite roof which acts as the key unifying element of the structure.

It’s amazing to see such an exciting design that has incorporated timber frame 🙌
