A testing result is only as reliable as the methodology behind it.
On a ~35 million L water storage tank project in South Australia, previous testing reported zero defects.
Independent testing using the Buckleys Geo Pro2 identified 39 leak paths across the installed liner system.
The difference came down to one critical factor:
Incorrect earthing methodology.
This project demonstrates why correct setup, operator competency and understanding conductive pathways are essential for achieving valid, reliable testing results.
Using the Geo Pro2, GeoQ successfully:
✅ Identified and verified all defects
✅ Confirmed liner integrity prior to commissioning
We’d like to thank GeoQ for the significant amount of work, technical detail and collaboration that went into this series of content. As Australia’s leading independent provider of CQA and electrical leak detection services for geosynthetic installations, their insight and field experience have helped create genuinely valuable technical resources for the industry.
Read the full case study to see how incorrect testing methodology led to a false negative - and what every technician should learn from it.
