I've been making a lot of obelisks lately, which is always a good sign plenty of gardens are getting ready for their Autumn tidy-up!

If your roses, clematis, honeysuckle or jasmine have got a bit too big for their boots this year, a good solid support can make all the difference.

Our obelisks are:

And because they're made from untreated steel, they'll gradually develop that lovely rusty finish as they weather.

Not every order that leaves our workshop is just an order 🐝💛

These two little steel bees are heading to the garden of a lovely local customer, who’s busy getting everything ready for a Macmillan Coffee Morning this Saturday.

She’s a repeat customer of ours, so it’s especially lovely to know that something we’ve made here at Firefly will be helping to add a little something special to her garden as she gets ready to welcome everyone.

A beautiful garden, good company, coffee, cake... and a few metal bees buzzing around. What more could you ask for? 🐝🌿☕️

Wishing her the very best for Saturday - and hoping they raise a fantastic amount for Macmillan ❤️

Until I dotted obelisks all around the garden, I'd never noticed how birds just LOVE to use them as little stops along their flight.

A quick perch, a look around and off they go again!

It's one of those things I had never expected when I started making garden obelisks, but I absolutely love seeing them become part of the life of the garden.

I never thought I’d be a bird watcher, but look at me now! 😂

This is the same style of garden obelisk - one freshly made in its original bare steel finish, and the other after weathering naturally to develop that beautiful, warm rusty patina.

When it leaves our Dorset workshop, it’s clean, bright and silver. Then, once it finds its place in your garden, the weather gets to work.

Slowly, the surface changes. The silver disappears, the rust develops and every obelisk takes on its own unique character 🤎

Beautiful when it’s new. Even better with time.

It's never quite 9 to 5 around here, but Dolly was absolutely the soundtrack of choice this week 🦋.

So here's one of our obelisks being made from start to finish in the Firefly workshop:

✨ Measure // Cut // Bend // Weld // Repeat
.. and the bit I love the most? Knowing this will sit in someone's garden, supporting a plant brimming with flowers they have proudly grown and love.
