My brothers for a charity we can all relate to. Cancers either in or been on all our lives. To support and all their hard work caring for loved ones, he’s shaving his beloved mop and what beard he can grow between now and 28th July.

Standard Mk5 GTi in.

Unfortunately car had never had the fuel pump bucket replaced as part of its service schedule.
Got diagnosed by another garage that wasn’t comfortable carrying out the job.

Was diagnosed and booked in for camshaft replacement, unfortunately upon removal of the camshafts we found the cam carrier had some pretty deep scores. The metal fillings from the broken fuel pump bucket had semi blocked the pick up pipe, being that the camshafts and the chain are the furthest from the oil pump it’s was starved of oil pressure.

Luckily we had a good condition BWJ head sat on the shelf.

🔧2nd hand head + camshafts
🔧All new gaskets and bolts
🔧New fuel pump bucket
🔧New cam chain + tensioner
🔧New pick up pipe and fresh oil and filter (5w40)

👀 Lovely stage 2 (520bhp) RS3 8v

In for an oil and filter service and some diagnostics

High pitch noise coming from engine bay.

This turned out to be a failed alternator, unfortunately back order from Germany so a good 2nd hand part was sourced.

Juddering under acceleration.

This turned out to be a snapped bolt where the prop meets the rear haldex fl**ge, resulting with the “doughnut” coming of its location pins.
Nice easy fix only costing 3 new bolts, could of been a lot worse...

Nice MK5 GTi with a CDL K04 conversion.

This was in with cooling issues.

Car was booked in for new thermostat and cambelt, water pump also new temp sensor.

Unfortunately we ran out of time on the day and wasn’t able to investigate further as the customer needed the car back.

The original temp issues wasn’t resolved but the customer did have piece of mind that a new belt was fitted (CDL engine was fitted without knowing the history of the belt)

We were also able to rule out a failed water pump, thermostat, and temp sensor. 👌🏼

Unfortunately this occasion it wasn’t just regular maintenance and the customer had a little whoopsie 😬

🔧Full check over visual and on the geo machine
🔧4x new alloys
🔧New J hook front discs
🔧Brembo racing pads
🔧NSF wheel bearing

Safe to say it could of been a lot worse, just a shame, as the old disc and pads weren’t that old.
