Switch boxes, in walls subject to fire regulations, must be correctly fire protected. Once a hole is made in the wall for a recessed switch or socket box, the fire integrity of the construction is compromised. The Socket Box Covers are manufactured from halogen free, low smoke, intumescent mineral fibre material and are designed to reinstate the fire performance of partition (stud) wall constructions when penetrated by steel or plastic electrical socket back boxes.

The cover will also provide resistance to the passage of sound and air movement. In the event of a fire the Astro FRA Socket Box Cover intumescent material will expand to enclose the electrical back box and cables, providing effective fire resistance, for integrity and insulation for 60 or 120 minutes depending upon the partition (stud) wall construction.
