Have a sealing application with a larger gap or very little compression available? 👀

That can make achieving a reliable seal with solid rubber difficult.

Moulded sponge is designed to compress and deform more easily, helping it accommodate larger tolerances and create an effective seal without requiring the same force.

It’s why you’ll find sponge rubber used in applications such as automotive door seals, plastic closures and large pipe seals.

A moulded part isn’t necessarily a finished part. 👀

Straight out of the mould, most rubber components still carry flash, excess material or marks from the tooling - and if that part is going straight into an assembly, those imperfections aren't just cosmetic.

They can throw off the fit, get in the way of moving components, or stop the part performing the way it should.

Finishing touches like trimming and deburring clean up those imperfections, so your parts are ready to perform reliably from day one.

When a rubber component needs tight tolerances and a higher cavity count, transfer moulding is often the right fit for the job. 👍

With shot weights ranging from 10g to 5kg, they can handle everything from small O-rings and seals to much larger gaskets and rubber buffers.

Having that range means we can match the machine to the component, whether we’re making something tiny or something with a bit more size to it.

Getting the design right at the start can save a lot of headaches later. 🤯

When we’re brought into a project early, we can look at the part from a manufacturing point of view and see if there are simple ways to make it easier or more cost-effective to produce.

That could mean tweaking the shape, choosing a different material, looking at another manufacturing process or considering the volumes and tooling costs.

And if there isn’t a drawing to start with, that’s fine too. We can work from an existing component through reverse engineering, or produce prototypes to test the design before moving into production.

There’s a big difference between 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 right and 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 right.

That’s why checking the finished component is just as important as making it!

We use a shadowgraph to measure rubber mouldings without ever touching them. It's a non-contact way of checking dimensions - which matters a lot with rubber, because even the light pressure from a measuring tool can distort the very shape you're trying to check.

It gives us a much clearer picture of the finished part - and the confidence that it’s meeting the required dimensions.
