Anyone can say they do heavy fabrication. The difference is whether they can manage what comes with it:

- lifting plans and ex*****on
- access constraints
- transport/loading strategy
- safe installation on site
- QA and traceability where it matters

The best results come when the workshop and site team operate as one system - not separate suppliers.

Projects rarely fail on the big decisions. They fail in the last 10%: access issues, late changes, documentation gaps, shutdown windows, “we’ll be back next week”.

If you’ve worked on projects where support drops off during installation or commissioning, you’ll know the impact goes beyond cost. It puts the whole programme at risk.

At ENCO, we stay involved throughout. From design support and fabrication through to mechanical and electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.

Useful question to ask any contractor:
“Who owns it when it gets difficult?”

Another successful critical shutdown completed by the Enco team and our partners.

Working in close collaboration with Space Engineering Services , over the weekend of 31st January, Enco Ltd carried out the full mechanical exchange of an industrial freezer evaporator in Slough, delivering the project safely and within the planned shutdown window.

Scope included:
• Isolation and disconnection of ammonia supply, suction, and drain lines
• Controlled lowering and removal of the existing evaporator using 4 x Tirfors secured to structural steelwork
• Controlled lifting and positioning of the replacement unit using the same lifting arrangement
• Pipework modifications and welding (Schedule 40 A333 carbon steel, reducing spools, and drain modification)
• Full insulation reinstatement and PIB finishing by Enco Lag

The operation required precise coordination across the engineering teams, with personnel working within the roof cavity managing lifting operations, while others operated inside the freezer in temperatures as low as -30°C.

Both teams maintained constant communication via two-way radios to ensure a safe and controlled exchange.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Space Engineering team for the strong partnership and coordinated approach that helped make the project a success.

A great example of planning, coordination, and delivery under challenging conditions.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with Kietyn one of our apprentices, to hear how his journey has been so far, since joining Enco.

After speaking with Kietyn, he shared with us what his experience has been like so far and what his hopes are for the future.

How has your experience at Enco been so far?

"I am absolutely loving the experience so far. I am building working relationships, and absorbing on the job knowledge, from my peer group. I am building on my welding skills, and I am afforded the time to hone my practical skills, and I am well on my way to becoming a coded tig welder. I have achieved quite a lot in my first few months, and I am really enjoying it."

What are you most looking forward to in the future?

“I’m especially looking forward to developing my welding skills further and to the best of my achievement while also improving in other areas such as teamwork, problem-solving, and technical knowledge which I think will most definitely grow in the company.

My ultimate aim is to become a highly skilled welder who not only produces high-quality work but also supports and helps others develop their own skills within the team. I am keen to use my skills in this trade to potentially use them across the globe and take my knowledge abroad and maybe even learn more skills along the way.”

We look forward to supporting Kietyn as he progresses on his journey to achieving his Level 3 Metal Fabrication qualification and becoming an asset to the team.👏
