Another successful critical shutdown completed by the Enco team and our partners.
Working in close collaboration with Space Engineering Services , over the weekend of 31st January, Enco Ltd carried out the full mechanical exchange of an industrial freezer evaporator in Slough, delivering the project safely and within the planned shutdown window.
Scope included:
• Isolation and disconnection of ammonia supply, suction, and drain lines
• Controlled lowering and removal of the existing evaporator using 4 x Tirfors secured to structural steelwork
• Controlled lifting and positioning of the replacement unit using the same lifting arrangement
• Pipework modifications and welding (Schedule 40 A333 carbon steel, reducing spools, and drain modification)
• Full insulation reinstatement and PIB finishing by Enco Lag
The operation required precise coordination across the engineering teams, with personnel working within the roof cavity managing lifting operations, while others operated inside the freezer in temperatures as low as -30°C.
Both teams maintained constant communication via two-way radios to ensure a safe and controlled exchange.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Space Engineering team for the strong partnership and coordinated approach that helped make the project a success.
A great example of planning, coordination, and delivery under challenging conditions.
