Remember Fionn Murphy?

Well, a few months ago, we welcomed Fionn to our team after his apprenticeship journey took an unexpected turn.

Having started his first-year electrical apprenticeship elsewhere, Fionn suddenly found himself without a placement following a business restructuring and the closure of their MEICA service. Through no fault of his own, a promising young apprentice was left wondering what came next.

We said we'd keep you updated on his journey, so fast forward to today and we're delighted to share that Fionn has been nominated by West Lothian College (Official) for a Student Excellence Award 👏

The nomination is a testament to Fionn's attitude, commitment and determination and we're incredibly proud to see his hard work being recognised.

When our Electrical Supervisor Scott Mckenzie reached out to help Fionn continue his apprenticeship, we knew we were bringing in someone with huge potential. Since joining, Fionn has become a valued member of the team and has embraced every opportunity to learn, develop and grow.

We believe investing in apprentices is investing in the future of our industry. Stories like Fionn's are a reminder of the importance of supporting young talent and providing opportunities for people to thrive.

Congratulations Fionn on this well-deserved recognition and we wish you well for the awards presentation next week.

Our bake sale was a big success - with funds raised for this weekend's 40 Peaks and nobody fell ill afterwards 😄🧁

With the 40 Peaks Challenge fast approaching, the team popped on their aprons and got stuck into a fundraising bake sale - and what a delicious spread!

A huge thanks to:

🍰 Margaret for the cupcakes
🍋 Stephen (and Mrs Stephen!) for the raspberry & coconut, chocolate and lemon drizzle traybakes
🍫 Hannah for the brownies and chocolate chip banana bread
🍮 Yvonne for the caramel loaf, Malteser slice; coconut, Biscoff and Nutella truffles
🥰 And PJ, who made sure nobody went hungry with some additional treats!

Considering there weren't many people in the branch to tempt, we're delighted with the outcome - a further £177 raised for our fundraising efforts 💪

More importantly, it was another great opportunity to get together, have some fun and support a fantastic cause.

Things are really starting to ramp up now as the countdown to the 40 Peaks Challenge continues ⛰️ a huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought and donated, which you can still do via the dedicated event website - 40peakschallenge.com 💰

Today’s Focus Friday is on our very recent trip to Germany as a valued supply chain partner for Allweiler.

Our Managing Director PJ McFeeley and Project Sales Manager Marc Russell were invited on a 4 day visit to their manufacturing plant in Radolfzell as they marked their milestone 150 year anniversary.

This was not an ordinary celebration with events held both in the facility and town for the people of Radolfzell over the Saturday and Sunday before it was down to business Monday & Tuesday with their Global Channel Partner conference.

That’s where Allweiler presented their business strategy & values (and unveiled their new tagline - Shape Tomorrow, Grow Together), their sustainable goals and trade compliance as well as product development updates on their pump portfolio:

Twin and triple screw pumps
Centrifugal pumps
Progressive cavity pumps
Plunger and metering pumps

There was even time for some energising sessions across the 2 days to keep everyone active and engaged. (Some more than others - such as Marc’s efforts at yoga 🤣).

An excellent event where we had the opportunity to meet with like-minded colleagues across the world and our thanks to Edwin Dankelman, Florian Kupper and Sunith Dsouza from the Allweiler team for the organisation and the hospitality provided.

Today’s Focus Friday is on team building in action 👏

As we continue to grow, it’s more important than ever to create opportunities for our people to connect, especially as new members join us.

Days like this are all about strengthening our relationships, building trust and having some well-earned fun together.

With this in mind, our Aberdeen branch recently headed to Lochter Activity Centre for our annual team building event, taking part in a series of activities across two teams.

Congratulations to Team B, who took the overall win, led by Team Captain Doug Davie - Karolina Borkowska, Ken Lannan, Chris Stewart, Ben Stewart, Harry Leal & Steven Ross 👏

A great effort from Team A who came second, headed by Team Captain David Melvin - Bradley Port, Andy Macneil, Rachel Forrest, Megan Stewart, Richard Wilson & Karen Bain 👏

🏁 Karting – Winner: Steven Ross
🎯 Clay Pigeon Shooting – Winner: Karolina Borkowska (who only joined on Apr 15th!)
🏴 Mini Highland Games – Winner: Bradley Port
🚜 Digger Challenge – Winner: Harry Leal

🏆 Overall top scorer: Steven Ross

The day wrapped up back in Aberdeen with a meal and drinks - a perfect way to round off a brilliant day and celebrate and build the strength of our growing team.

After a full day’s work…straight up a mountain ⛰️

Fair play to David McIntosh and Craig Po***ck, who headed off yesterday evening to take on Ben Vane - with the trusty Ferrier Pumps water bottle making it to the summit too! 💧

Some effort and some reward - with incredible views at the top to match.

It’s great to see colleagues making the most of time outside the workplace, building friendships, enjoying the outdoors and getting that all-important feel-good factor.

With the 40 Peaks Challenge on the horizon, it looks like the preparation is already well underway 💪

Project Spotlight: Pumping Station Upgrade 💧

Another great example of what team Ferrier delivers - from design through to installation & commissioning.

Working with The City of Edinburgh Council, we completed a full upgrade showcasing our end-to-end capabilities 👇

What was involved?

✔️ Removal of existing kiosk & control panel
✔️ Installation of a bespoke Form 4a Type 2 control panel in GRP kiosk
✔️ Integration of ultrasonic level monitoring & backup float systems
✔️ Full electrical & mechanical inspection of pumps
✔️ Complete installation, wiring & commissioning

All delivered with our team's careful attention to site constraints - including a custom kiosk base solution to overcome access limitations on-site 👷‍♂️

⚙️ Commissioning & Delivery
Our engineers carried out full installation and commissioning, ensuring both pumps and control systems were fully operational and optimised for performance.

This project delivered:
🔹 Seamless kiosk installation and control panel commissioning
🔹 Reliable pump operation with calibrated level controls
🔹 Safe, efficient setup ready for ongoing service

Led on-site by our experienced Engineering Manager Alan Kinghorn and his team, ensuring quality from start to finish 👏

✔️ Strong partnership with local authorities
✔️ Expertise across electrical, mechanical & control systems

What a fantastic night at the WaterAid UK Ball in the Hilton, Glasgow! 💧✨

We - PJ McFeeley, Scott Po***ck, David McIntosh, Craig Po***ck and Marc Russell - were delighted to share the table with some of our friends from Xylem Water Solutions UK & Ireland – Lee Meekison, Lisa Johnstone and Iain Brown as well as our colleague Stewart Hilson from EPS Water UK - all proved to be great company for a great cause!

Once again, we were proud to be part of such an inspiring evening, bringing the water industry together to support and promote the vital work WaterAid does around the world.

The call on the night was for world leaders to demand change which could result in clean water being made available to all as, shockingly, 1 in 10 do not have that luxury which we all take for granted.

And support was plentiful as between the main sponsors and table sales over £300,000 was raised through the event - simply unbelievable!

We donated an overnight stay with a round of golf for 2 at Apex Dunblane, while Xylem donated a signed Manchester City jersey as prizes.

But our backing of WaterAid's activities doesn’t stop there… 💪

With the EPS Group 40 Peaks Challenge coming up this June, our teams are already gearing up to continue making a real difference.

A brilliant evening supporting a powerful cause and helping everyone to... !

On International Women’s Day, it's great to see some of the wonderful women on our team recognised amongst those working within the wider EPS Group.

Many of the women featured are normally more comfortable behind the scenes than in front of a camera, but we are delighted that a light is being shone on some of the fantastic women who help make our businesses stronger and !
