Official response from my email to DVSA about MOT testing

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your email and points raised.

No all still here trying to make some difficult decisions as we are getting many more enquiries than yourself I’m sure and this is an unprecedented situation.

As this is an unprecedented event it is not straightforward with many decisions effecting all areas of life to be made.
MOT currently is business as usual - however it is currently under discussion and constant review - consider the number of stakeholders that have to be considered e.g. VTS's & AE's , testers, DVLA (if no MOT can they tax vehicle) , police, insurance companies (if we stop MOT is insurance valid?) and of course motorists. How would motorists ensure their vehicle is in a roadworthy condition as many drivers would say they need a garage to do that.
So a big decision with lots of considerations - probably some AE's will take precautions and want to stay open, others may want to close - certainly there are mixed responses coming in with many insisting they want to stay open.

Comms will be forthcoming as soon as decisions are made, so I can only advise that you watch all comms channels – I will keep your email and add your email address to my list so that when comms are issued I will circulate.

Sorry I cannot offer any further advice at the moment.
