Our team came together today across both our Engineering Innovation Centre and Crop Research Centre to enjoy a delicious selection of small plates. We host quarterly Bring a Dish lunches and encourage our team to get involved with culinary delights which reflect their tastes, cultures and creativity. IGS might be known primarily for its vertical farming technology but that same spirit of innovation shows in the kitchen, with giant focaccia sandwiches, pasties, and much more on the menu!

Why did the Easter Bunny start vertical farming? It took hiding eggs to the neggst level!

Our Crop Research Centre team got the Easter weekend off to a strong start with a selection of chocolate treats and a customary appearance from our resident Easter Bunny. Another year has gone by and we’re yet to crack growing Easter eggs vertically, but we’ll keep trying 🐰 !

The berry business is booming, with global demand set to double in the next five years. IGS Growth Towers can play a key role in helping to scale production, helping growers navigate challenges around supply and crop consistency with repeatable, predictable growth.

This week, IGS’ Head of Sales Europe, Gina Mercier, and Senior Plant Scientist, Csaba Hornyik attended the annual Fruitnet Berry Congress in London, where Gina spoke about the role our technology can play in growing pathogen- and pest-free starter plants, working alongside existing CEA infrastructure. We’ve loved meeting with so many fellow industry professionals at events these last few months – here’s to more ‘fruitful’ conversations across the rest of 2026!

This week, IGS team members from all three sites across Scotland got together in person at our Engineering Innovation Centre in Inverkeithing. It always takes a bit of scheduling and diary juggling to get as many people as possible into the same room (or in this case, warehouse!), but we put the time to good use, using it to reevaluate, strategise and focus on the year ahead. We were also lucky enough to be treated to a relatively balmy spring evening after – the perfect complement to a slice of delicious freshly cooked pizza 👌.

This week, our software team has swapped screens for hands-on training using our Growth Towers at our Crop Research Centre near Dundee. Seeing our systems in action helps connect code to crops, allowing our engineers to see the hardware in action and refine how the platform works with tangible, practical insight.

Ultimately, though, it turns out the secret to a great training day is a pizza oven and a few of our operations team who are also dab hands as chefs – who would have thought🍕?!

Wishing all of our community a joyful and peaceful festive season.

We’re signing off until the new year, but want to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported IGS throughout 2025. Over the past 12 months, IGS has continued to move forward with exciting projects worldwide, while supporting our customers in growing resource-efficient, nutritious produce year-round.

See you in 2026!

IGS’ moustachioed contingent has grown this November, with team members across our various sites donning a tache in aid of Movember. Whether subtle wisps, or bold handlebars, every moustache has helped to spark conversations around men’s mental and physical health. We’ve also run a walking challenge, so IGS colleagues who don’t want to partake can raise funds through other means.

The jury’s still out on whether the new facial stylings will survive the razor when the 1st December rolls around, but we’d like to take the time to commend our team on all their efforts for a very good cause 〰.

Our team don't just design world-leading vertical farming technology – we've also got a number of star bakers in our midst! These delightful treats were spotted in our Engineering Innovation Centre this morning as part of a fundraising effort for Movember. Dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support men's health (with a focus on mental health, su***de prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer), Movember is an annual opportunity to unite for an increasingly important cause.

A number of our team are taking part in the Movember challenge, and we'll be sharing a progress update in the coming weeks. Like a finely groomed tache, we'd say that these cakes look a cut above the rest, so for now, the time has come to tuck in 😋.

No tricks here this Halloween, just some scarily good lettuce grown at our Crop Research Centre! When the produce is fresh, pesticide-free, and packed full of nutrients, you know you’ve got nothing to fear 👻.

This week, we had the pleasure of being invited back to Edinburgh Science Festival’s annual Careers Hive. Members of Team IGS spoke with attendees about their own STEM career pathways, as well as supervising experiments, and running activity sessions which combined engineering design, problem solving, and team work – key skills which our team utilise each day.

It’s always rewarding speaking to the next generation of talent, engaging them in what we do, and opening their eyes to potential careers in the fast-paced world of controlled environment agriculture.
